| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2019 | 27 Chorale Well, we're off and running! Our rehearsals began last month at the Beaumont Presbyterian Church, and we'll meet there for Monday morning rehearsals as well as Thursday sectionals. We return to the Main Clubhouse Ballroom on Sept. 29. Our concert is called "Family Fall Festival: Home for the Holidays." It is scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 22-24, and includes songs celebrating Halloween, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, and the New Year. Prospective and returning members are encouraged to join us until Sept. 2. Contact Linda Vieira at lvieira@eltree.com or (951) -797-0315 for more information. Annual Barbershop Concert Sponsored by Chorale The members of the Chorale wish to invite you to an event that we sponsor, which usually takes place while we are enjoying our summertime hiatus; however, that isn't the case this year. This event's scheduled date, and even the start of our rehearsals for the Holiday Concert, were severely impacted by the August renovation of the Ballroom. What is being referenced is the Barbershop Concert that we have sponsored, for what will be our seventh year. The concert is actually organized and staged by the members of the Inland Empire Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society known as the Inland Sound Chorus, and they truly bring you a great cross- section of the music that represents this great American art form. What makes this an especially memorable concert is that they have again brought back the lady Barbershoppers that they reintroduced to our community last summer from the Inland Empire Chorus of the Sweet Adelines! Both choruses are great, and having them both together here on our stage, in one fast moving afternoon of music is something not to be missed! The date of the concert is Sun., Sept. 29 at 3 pm – doors to open at 2:30 pm, and tickets will go on sale in the Main Clubhouse Lobby starting Mon., Sept. 16, with Monday through Friday with 1:30 to 4:30 pm availability, except for Tuesdays. On Tuesdays ONLY, they will be available from 4:30 to 8:30 pm! This preceding schedule will be valid until Sept. 27, and tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the show, starting at 2 pm. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, but they encourage families to attend so they discount children's ticket prices to $5 (12 and under) and free for children under 5. Make your plans now to enjoy this concert with your family and treat them to something very special. Our piano and violin classical concert last month was outstanding! The musicians from the San Francisco Opera entertained us with some beautiful classical pieces. What a privilege it was to have such professional musicians travel to Sun Lakes to perform for us. We wish to thank Lorene Sowash who organizes this concert for us every time they perform in Sun Lakes. Lorene's daughter-in- law, Maki, was one of the featured performers. Those of us who attend this concert each time enjoy listening to beautiful classical music as well as socializing with all the performers at the reception afterwards. Auditions for men and women for It's A Wonderful Life will be held on Sept. 1 (10:30 am – 1:30 pm) and Sept. 3 (11:30 am – 1:30 pm) at the South Clubhouse. Please come prepared to read from the script and with any conflicts you have for rehearsals through the end of October. Rehearsals begin Sept. 16 and will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 1 pm – 3:30 pm. Performances are Oct. 24 - 27. This play will be performed book in hand – no memorization – but will require acting, some movement and multiple role casting. If you have any questions or want to arrange an alternate audition, call or text director Lee Stone at (858) 735-3216, or email her at leestone953@gmail.com. Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at l pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. If you have any interest in acting, helping backstage, volunteering for other jobs, or are curious about what we do, come join us to see what we are all about.
