The Garden Club presents Alice's Adventures in Wonderland! You are all invited to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party with Alice on Oct. 30, from 2 to 4:30 pm. Doors open at 1:30 pm. This is not just any tea party. As you enter the Main Clubhouse Ballroom you will be magically transported to the "Mad Hatter's Tea Party," where you will experience the joy of tea as presented by Lisa Kermisiz Abraham, with Bigelow Teas. There will be a surprise presentation by the Sun Lakes Playhouse, and a grand finale of fantastic door prizes. A sampling of foods to be served at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party includes: Royal Finger Sandwiches, The Queens Scones, The March Hare's Waldorf Salad, The Cheshire Cat's Petit Fours, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum's refreshment table with hot tea, iced tea, water, coffee and a cash bar. Come dressed as your favorite character from the story for a chance to be chosen the winner for wearing the most authentic costume. What a fun way to celebrate fall and the day before Halloween. Get your tickets while they last! You don't want to be the one that missed this spectacular party! Both members and non-members are invited. Ticket prices are $25 pp. Ticket sales will be in the Main Clubhouse lobby; look for the poster and flyers for dates. The general meeting is Fri., Sept. 13, at 11 am in the South Clubhouse due to the renovations in the Main Clubhouse. The guest speakers are Sheila James and Martha Tureen, Master Gardeners who will speak about mulching. Did you know that the Garden Club, with its affiliation with "Plant a Row," has 15 garden plots available to the Garden Club at Dysart Park? We produce and harvest many pounds of produce which is donated to the local soup kitchens and food banks. Each person has their own plot, keeping a small amount for themselves and donating the rest. We have several plots available. Please contact Ron Tigen if you are interested at (951) 402-3217. We need volunteer pickers for the fruit in Sun Lakes. Residents call us to pick the fruit, which is donated to the local food banks. If you can volunteer to help pick fruit, or need someone to come and pick fruit, contact Joy Bailey at (951) 845-5540. You don't have to be a gardener to join! Come and visit any time and see what we are all about. For membership contact Sherry Case at (951) 533- 3584 or Linda Powers at (951) 769-3101. For general information contact President, Pam Mikkelsen, at (951) 797-3080. Please support the Garden Club by purchasing See's Candy gift certificates from Maureen Keeney at (951) 797-0011 or Janie Haughn at (909) 556-0577.
