| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2019 | 51 Women's Golf We play a variety of weekly golf games and scheduled tournaments on our Championship Course every Thursday, and on the first Saturday of each month. The first Thursday game of each month is a Scramble or a Shamble. Afterward, we gather in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom for a luncheon followed by our General Meeting. In addition to our regular weekly games we have nine major tournaments scheduled this year, including our Member/Guest Invitational Tournament and the Extravaganza, which is co-ed and played with members of the Sun Lakes Men's Golf Club. Tournaments are flighted. Our $65 annual membership fee includes membership with SCGA with your GHIN handicap. To obtain the handicap, you will need to play five 18 hole rounds on the Championship course. Our Handicap Chair will calculate your handicap from your scorecards and you'll be set to hit the links. If you are looking for an enjoyable challenge and the camaraderie of our many golf sisters, please join us. Applications are available in the Main Pro Shop and on our Sun Lakes website, sunlakescc.com. For more information, please contact Membership Chair Marcy Tierney, (951) 769-5767 or lakeliving@dc.rr.com. Hope to meet you soon! Executive Men's Golf The Executive is an 18-hole course with six challenging par fours and lots of water. We have a tournament on the third Friday of the month, followed by a catered lunch in the North Clubhouse. The tournament for the month of September is a four-man Scramble, pick your own team. The Executive Men's Club meets on Friday mornings at 8 am for an 8:30 am shotgun start time for the months of July, August and September. The early start time may help us beat the heat. Membership is open to all Sun Lakes male residents and all levels of golfers are welcome. Come join us! New member forms are available in the North Pro Shop or on the EMGC website. You can contact the membership chairman David Amar at (951) 402-3059. More information is available on the Sun Lakes website at www.sunlakes.com. Men's Golf Join us on the Championship Course on Wednesdays, it is men's day! Scheduled this month is the Final Round of the President Cup on Sept. 4 and our Member/Member (Scramble-Best Ball) on Wed., Sat., Sept. 18 and 21. Remember to go to the Sun Lakes Country Club website under Golf – Daily Course Info before playing your round of golf to determine if either Holes #14, #15 and / or #16 might be closed for the day because of the Championship Course Channel / Turf Reduction / Irrigation Enhancement project. As of Fri., Aug. 2, the contractor had dug a drainage trench on hole #14. (See picture) We are looking for new members to join us and continue to encourage members from last year to renew their memberships. Dues are $70 ($34 goes towards Men's Club dues and $36 pays for maintaining your S.C.G.A. / Ghin handicap). Contact Bill Nevins at (951) 846-9910 if you have any membership questions.
