Aug. 30 is the final day to get your entries in. The tournament begins the week of Sept. 9 and runs for 10 weeks through the week of Nov. 11, with playoffs Monday and Tuesday, the 18th and 19th. A reminder: for the first four weeks of the Fall tournament, we stay with the summer times, 5, 6, 7 and 8 pm. We switch to spring times, 3, 4, 5, and 6 pm as the weather cools. Your schedules will reflect the time change. Another reminder: a schedule for 2020, will be posted on the bulletin board on the back of our cabinet in December. That should help you in making your plans for the future. Also, on the back of the main bulletin board you can find all the names and phone numbers of each team playing in that tournament, plus those of the Bocce Board and all of the referees. An alternate list is posted on the front of the bulletin board with the schedules and standings of the playing teams. The Bocce Ball Club has two meetings a year and we eat at each one. The first is our free pizza party in the spring (at least free to our members). Our second annual meeting and Italian dinner is Oct. 6 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. The charge is $15 pp and is well worth it. If you plan to attend, have your reservations in by Oct. 2. Our club subsidized a third of the cost of this party and a party it is. Again, reservations go to 1288 Pleasant Valley, box at door. For questions, call Dutch at (951) 845-0392. See you on the courts! Friends of Bocce Friday mornings, 9 am in the North Clubhouse. Cost is only $5 per week (or $20 per month). Tai chi (Tie-Chee) is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Originally developed for self-defense, tai chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. The tradition of Tai Chi dates back to at least the 15th century in China, and the practice is based on the belief that balancing the opposite forces in the body (known as yin and yang) will encourage the flow of chi (energy) through the body to promote health. You may also find Tai Chi appealing because it's inexpensive and requires no special equipment. Tai Chi can be done anywhere, alone or in a group class.
