S e p t e m b e r has arrived and we are in the last quarter of 2019. The reservation process has begun and all the clubs should have received their paperwork, to schedule their special events and meeting dates. If not, please stop by the front desk at the Clubhouse to receive the forms required. Please do not assume that the Recreation staff will automatically input a reservation. Everyone needs to submit the paperwork for scheduling an ongoing activity into the calendar. Angie and Lisa will begin the arduous task of inputting all this information and their door will be closed, at times, to complete this process. The next grouping will include interest groups, card players, etc. We make every effort to accommodate. Our goal is to have the membership experience a well-planned and successful event. This summer has been awesome weather- wise and with this great weather brings more swimmers. Due to the increase of users, concerns have been raised about swim times, sharing of the lanes while lap- swimming, underage children using the spa, using the outside shower before entering the pool, and children on the deck of the pool after 2 pm. The new rule states: Children (5 - 14) may stay in the pool area after the posted hours so long as they are with a resident. A schedule has been produced to sort out some of these questions; this is to better inform pool goers of the activity times. A schedule is available at the Clubhouse and online at www.oceanhillscountryclub.com. Noteworthy News: the coffee is back at the bar and from the comments we have received so far, most are in favor of enjoying coffee with their neighbors and kibitzing all hours of the day. The Annual Water Volleyball Game Residents vs. Staff on Aug. 23, was a huge success with a good representation from both sides. It was again a landslide in favor of the OHCC Village team. It is certainly obvious that it takes a Village to make a dynamic team. It was so beneficial for this to happen on a Friday, as the staff went home for the weekend to regroup and "soak." Thank you to all for your willingness to participate, we had a ball! Flu Shots are coming to the Clubhouse on Oct. 16, 1 to 4 pm, with pre-registration the day before. The pre- registration is not required but it is helpful to process the paperwork for the insurance coverage. Bring proof of insurance. Please see the flyer in this publication. This is sponsored by the neighborhood Walgreen's, our thanks to Manager Amy Spoor for her continued support. Tri-City Medical Center is hosting a lunch and lecture on Thurs., Sept. 12, tickets are available for the lunch at the front desk. The Tri-City team is to host another lunch on Thurs., Oct. 31, the subject matter is yet to be determined. City of Oceanside will be here on Wed., Sept. 18 at 4 pm to discuss Senior Options. The Annual Flea Market on the 21st is almost here and we can already smell the hot dogs on the Palm Court. Come on in and find a treasure and enjoy the air-conditioned Clubhouse. As my mother would say, "Let's make a deal, wrap it up!" Enjoy the rest of the summer, as we begin to gear up for the coming months. The Clubhouse offers so many activities for individuals to choose from. Take the dip and become a volunteer, stay active and live life with a purpose. See you in this place some of us call "Paradise!" Recreation News By Chris Bessey, Recreation Director | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2019 |25
