Here we are facing the last (hopefully) month of very hot weather. September is usually a hot month, but it puts you in the mental frame of mind that yells "the end of the heat is near". The fun thing is some folks love the hot summers and find colder weather distasteful. Finding that middle ground is a pleasure. That period when the weather hovers around 75-80 degrees (dream on). Labor Day quickly shows on the calendar as September 2nd this year. For those of you with real jobs you are probably expecting a three-day weekend. For those of us who are retired, it just means be alert. We know that the freeways are fraught with all kinds of hazards, especially accidents. Leaving Four Seasons Blvd. and entering Florida can be a challenge at any time. What challenge (?) you may ask, how about when you turn onto Florida and an approaching driver fails to stop. At any rate enjoy Labor Day and be safe out there. Margie Culton and Brenda Beers are the co-chairs of Four Seasons Team Sunshine. They ably work with over 40 enthusiastic volunteers who respond to their responsibilities with inspiration and goodwill. They reach out to residents by sending get well cards; loaning mobility and personal care equipment; assisting with celebrations of life; offering educational programs on various life topics; providing information about Hemet Community Care assistance; sponsoring the annual health fairs; greeting new residents and providing Four Seasons Community information; offer inspirational assistance through prayer, if requested; and support various social activities and provide programs to bring "Sunshine" to our residents. The Emergency Preparedness program continues to be vital to our community and in need of more members. We have met with moderate success in our recruitment efforts; but still have not hit our target for participants. At this writing we have 38 Street Captains while 64 are needed. One street captain for every block is our goal. Do you know who your street captain is? We still are asking for volunteers, so that we can cover the neighborhoods that do not have leadership. Again, we are not looking for much of your time, but enough to ensure that you and your neighbors are safe and know what procedures to follow in case of a community wide emergency. See you at the next Board meeting. Message from the Board of Directors 2 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2019 | Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Jim Crase, Tony Criscenti, Gene Hikel, Ken Pounders, Cliff Post and Greg Rockvam Jim Hatcher President
