10 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2019 | Facilities Committee We need your help! We are a community with a variety of skills and interests. Living in Four Seasons entails some responsibilities too. Recent openings on Facilities Committee due to failing health and other circumstances, highlight the need for more homeowner participation in the management of our community. The Board of Directors depend on the various committees to examine, discuss and recommend what actions the they should consider and perhaps act on. It involves making necessary rule changes and due to the aging of the facilities updating and repairing as necessary. What is involved? Usually each committee meets twice a month and requires occasional other efforts, (such as the inspection of facilities), to fulfill your obligation. To participate, an application for any committee is available at the Lodge desk. You can choose from various committees, channeling your own expertise and interests. I personally attended several facilities committee meetings, (you are always welcome to sit in), and when an opening occurred, I was aware that my interest and life experience, were compatible with the responsibilities they were concerned with. We all appreciate the low monthly dues we enjoy. To a great extent this is because of the efforts of your neighbors, who give of their time and experience, to help the BOD in maintaining our community's beauty, desirability, and value. Please consider participating. It's fun and rewarding to share with other residents in keeping Four Seasons a wonderful place to live! Emergency preparedness committee Our Mission: The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program is designed to increase individual and community preparedness and self-reliance in the event of man-made or natural disasters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has officially recognized CERT as an important part of a community's disaster preparedness readiness. Four Seasons CERT continues to need your participation. Become a Street Captain or CERT Auxiliary. Step up. Be a part of the best CERT in the valley, come make a difference. For more information visit https://fscert.org/cert- volunteer What You Should Know about Wildfire • Know what to do before, during, and after a wildfire. • Learn your evacuation routes and plan to evacuate if advised by local authorities. • Have emergency supplies in place at home, at work and in the car. • Check your insurance policies to ensure you have enough coverage. • Create a communications plan with your family. • Listen to local officials. • FEMA and Ready.gov (https://www.ready.gov/wildfire- toolkit) • To learn how to get ready, go to https://fscert.org. You can help yourself! Display the blank green sign in your window, it's a convenient place to store your signs and have quick access when you need them in an emergency. Just flip the green sign around if you are "OK" or replace it with the "Need Help" if you are not, so your CERT neighbors can prioritize getting help to you. Plan. Prepare. Survive. If you regularly walk along Four Seasons Blvd., we hope you are enjoying the shade of the beautiful trees. Soon it will be time to trim some of them. Trimming keeps our trees healthy. Trees are inspected for disease and treated as needed. Some trees may be removed because of safety issues (i.e., high winds might bring them down). And as we approach fall, some of our trees turn beautiful colors before they lose their leaves. If you can, plan to take a walk or drive in our community to see the changes in our trees, during the fall season. This month we focus on two common areas in our community that our contractor Artistic Maintenance provides services for on a regular schedule, but also when the needs arise. These common areas are not seen from our main thoroughfare of Four Seasons Blvd. First, there is a detention basin, off of Singh Court, which is designed to slow the rate of storm water and helps prevent flooding. This is typically a dry depression, but has temporarily filled with rain water during a storm. The bottom of the basin has established native plants that help with erosion control. There is a set schedule for inspecting and maintaining the basin. The Emergency Vehicle Access or EVA Road or is directly east of the 10th green of the Hemet Golf Club parallels California Rd. and extends to the homes at the northeast end of our community, with access roads off of Whitworth and Vardon. Maintaining existing landscape as well as weed abatement takes place on a regular basis on this northeast portion for the EVA. Next time you walk the access road to the EVA, enjoy lovely "Little John" plants along the access roads. The Landscape Committee meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1 pm at the Lodge. Residents are welcome to attend. Landscape Committee
