FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2019 15 First Responders Saluting in Four Seasons Ed Stout, Chief of Police, Fontana Police Department, 30 years. At age 14, I decided I wanted to be a policeman because of the respect I had for them. The ability to do something good for society and the security of a worthwhile profession. Five retired Fontana policemen live in Four Seasons. Michael E. Corbett, Officer, Redlands Police Dept. As a young boy, my mentor was a NYPD officer. I often walked with him on his beat, and enjoyed watching him help people. I decided early on this is what I wanted to do with my life. I started my Law Enforcement career in the U.S. Air Force and have more than 37 years proudly serving. Doug Dupree, Deputy Fire Chief Fire Marshal, San Bernardino City Fire Department. When I was a junior in high school, I joined the Fire Department Explorer Scouts. I found that I was destined to help others during what may have been the worst times for them or their family. This led me to become a full- time firefighter and paramedic when I was 19-years-old. Very early on we all became family as we were with each other 24-48 hours at a time. I have formed life-long friendships with those I worked with over the years. John Enzler, Captain, Orange FD, Orange, CA. I chose this career to serve the community and have adventure. I enjoyed 36 years of service. Robert Shaw (not pictured), Lead Supervising Deputy/Dep. Commander, San Bernardino County Sheriff 's Coroner, Fed. DMORT Team. I chose public service for 32 and a half years in the San Bernardino County Sheriff 's Department. As DMORT Dep. Commander, I have responded to 911, Katrina, and Haiti both as an investigator and then as a leader in the body recovery effort. Robert (Rob) Gardner, Search and Rescue Team Member; EMT; Safety Officer; Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit (RMRU) with Riverside County Sheriff 's Department. I chose this career to contribute to the good of my community and to save lives. Jerry Monahan, Police Lieutenant – Riverside Police Department. I wanted to work in a career where I could help people in their times of need. Throughout my years with the police department I enjoyed going to work each day and I think often about my friends who lost their lives in the line of duty. Never forgotten. Kristin Hamilton, Deputy Sheriff, San Bernardino Sheriff 's Department. My father was an Air Force pilot/navigator for 27 years. So I followed his path of service to become a Deputy Sheriff. I loved my career and retired after 27 years.
