The Travel Group Steering Committee hopes your summer was full of awesome adventures and new experiences. The more than 100 participants who joined the group on the July Newport Harbor and Roger's Gardens trips had, by all accounts, an enjoyable time. And many are already asking, "Where are we going next?" The committee is looking toward the future and we will post updates on the FourSeasonsBeaumontTravelGroup Facebook page and our association website under both the In case you missed it! and Upcoming Events features. Look for information in the Daily Report as well. We had a great turnout at our July meeting with breakout groups suggesting several ideas for future outings. Day trips under consideration are the San Diego opera, Flying Museum, Getty Villa, San Bernardino Symphony, the Reagan and Nixon presidential libraries. Also, Frozen at Pantages (Dec. 4 to Feb. 2), Windmill tour, Living Desert, and Palm Springs tram. Possible other 2020 events that require early commitment included a Hollywood Bowl summer trip, Laguna Pageant of Masters and Art festival, and the musical, Hamilton, in March. Overnight and longer trips discussed were: Sedona, Grand Canyon train trip from Williams, Arizona; Santa Barbara Orchid Festival; Monterey Bay Aquarium and Carmel; California Missions; Catalina Island; Balboa Park and the Shakespeare festival; Hearst Castle; Napa Wine train; Las Vegas; and Mt. Rushmore. Cruise possibilities included river and ocean cruising with interest in smaller ships and cruises that were eight to 15 days. Most avid cruisers plan their trips in advance so planning for a shorter cruise in 2020 and a longer cruise in 2021 was discussed. Some options for shorter cruises are: Pacific Coastal; Alaska (land and cruise), Hawaii, Canada/New England, and Mississippi or Columbia river cruises. Longer cruise ideas (outside the US) are: Adriatic (Venice to Greece), Scandinavia, South Pacific, Australia/New Zealand, Galapagos, British Isles, and Danube river cruise. While the Travel Group is unable to plan every trip discussed, we hope you will reach out through our Facebook page to find individuals with like interests to collaborate on possible excursions. Mark your calendars for our next meeting in the RCN Great Room, 10 am on Sept. 28. For questions on email lists and our travel group Facebook page, contact Sharon Bond at sjbond2013@gmail.com.
