FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2019 63 The 8-Ball Club holds two in-house tournaments each month: an 8-Ball tournament and a 9-Ball tournament. Most months, we play four additional tournaments: two away and two at home, with Hemet (Solera) twice and Cherry Valley (Solera) twice. In the July 8-ball tournament, we had 10 players compete. A fairly new member of the club, Paul Carrocino, went undefeated to the final match to meet Robert Howard coming out of the loser bracket. Paul had to make the final shot to win. But, it was not to be. Paul missed and Robert finished the match to become this month's 8-ball champion. Congratulations to Robert Howard, this month's 8-ball champion, and Paul Carrocino, runner up. The in-house 9- ball tournament also had ten players competing. Mike Stawicki, our newest member, made a good showing of himself by getting into the final match undefeated. Coming out of the loser bracket, Dave Martin was able to win the first match and then the next to become this month's 9-ball champion. Congratulations to Dave Martin, this month's 9-ball champion, and Mike Stawicki, runner up. Also, a special welcome to new member, Mike Stawicki. The 8-Ball Club is always looking for new players. The club plays or practices Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights from 6:30 until 9 pm. There is a calendar of our events in the Billiards Room on the 8-Ball Club bulletin board. Come on out for the fun and give us a try. 8-Ball Club Officers: Captain Del Lyles, Sr. (951) 845-5114, Co- Captain Larry Rice (951) 236-1156. ~ Larry Rice The 8-Ball Club Cues For Two is our couples billiard group that plays Thursday evenings from 5 to 8 pm for open play. Come and go as you please. Some like to eat dinner early and come a little later and some like to eat later so they come at 5 pm and leave a little earlier. We decided to take a break after our summer party in July and resume playing after Labor Day, as many people were busy with vacations, grandchildren, and other summer activities. Our July was a busy one. First we had our Fourth of July tournament. The winners were: 1st place: Joy Collins and Paul Snyder; 2nd place: Michael and Dianne Rothberg. Our summer bash was held on July 20 at The Summit, and it was a lot of fun! We had an awesome BBQ and potluck with lots of yummy homemade food. Everyone participated in the fun and games, playing bocce ball, corn hole, ladder ball, and even some softball. So if you find yourself bored on a Thursday evening, just grab your mate and come on down. Questions?
