50 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2019 Come join one of the fastest growing groups at Four Seasons. We are always looking for new people to play with the regular players on Saturday and/or Monday mornings at 8 am (note the change to summer hours). Shuffleboard is a fun and competitive game that is easy to learn and is played in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We want to welcome four new players to our group, Bob and Charlene Baker, Tip Eyler, and Rene Garcia. After having your morning breakfast and coffee, come out and get some light exercise and fresh air and have some fun. Enjoy our beautiful setting at the shuffleboard courts at The Lodge while playing with a great group of people. Each time we play, we choose different teams, so you are always playing with different partners and getting to know new people. A special thank you to Patty Harper for being our official photographer. Please call Marty Rotman at (310) 948-1693 if you have any questions. ~ Marty Rotman Shuffleboard How many famous lines can you remember? "Four score and seven years ago…," or "In the beginning…," or "It was the best of times. It was…," or "Ask not what your country can do for …" Unfortunately, as inspiring or challenging as these lines are, none of them helps us live a healthier lifestyle. But many people have achieved that goal with the aid of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). The people mentioned below lost 25- 125 pounds. Listen to their words. One man said, "When my grandson was born, I knew I needed to get my rear in gear and do something serious about my weight. My wife and I worked on portion size and choices. To keep from going back to my old habits I attend meetings, exercise, and remember that the scale is my friend." A woman said, "Even when I wasn't losing weight, I still went to my meetings because I needed the accountability. No matter what, I never stopped going." Another said "Throughout the ups and downs of my journey, I never stopped going to TOPS. Whether I was crying over a series of gains, or celebrating my successes, my chapter was there with contests, workshops and recognition to motivate me." A man said, "Before TOPS I had one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. It's been over a year, and I have faithfully stayed under my goal weight after my losses. I can do it. You can too!" And finally, one woman said, "By learning how to eat, exercise, and drink plenty of water, I was able to reach my goal. It was a slow process, but my determination finally paid off thanks to the support, friendship, and love that TOPS offers." Hundreds of stories like this prove that TOPS works by encouraging us to live a better, healthier life. Why not join us and make a healthy difference in your life? We meet on Tuesdays at 8 am in The Lodge Ballroom. ~ Andrea Henderson, (918) 497–6491 TOPS Shuffleboard group is ready to play
