Rules & Regulations Neighborhood Watch Our next meeting is Wednesday, May 8, at 10 am in the Ballroom. Please note the change of day from a Friday to a Wednesday. We hope to accommodate those that have not been able to attend before because of the day it was scheduled. Our community garage sale is on April 27, with sign ups on March 12. Although this can be a fun event it is open to the public so as a community we need to be aware that we will have more people and cars cruising the neighborhood. Please be safe and lock your cars if left on the driveway and keep doors and windows shut. If you are selling from your garage, please do not go into your house for change, leaving your door open to the house. We have recruited a new block captain this month and thank him for joining us… and thanks to all block captains who are the eyes and ears for our neighborhood. If you are interested in being a block captain, please do not hesitate to contact Dennis Gray or myself and we will be happy to talk to you about it. Our crime prevention tip for the month is: always be alert and aware of your surroundings even when you feel you are in a safe area. ~ Susan Wilson 14 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2013 | community News Voting thermometers have been modified and are now in working order. They have been delivered and installed. You will now be able to view our progress on all future elections. The Civil Code requires a provision in the Association rules for access to Association media and facilities to express a member's point of view on an election or amendment item. We presented the Board of Director's with a proposal to adopt a revision to the Community Guidelines to comply with the Civil Code requirements. You are invited to attend our meetings. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month at 9 am in the Lodge Conference Room. ~ Ron Morgan Emergency Preparedness Program (EPP) We meet the 1st Thursday of the month at 10:30 am in the Lodge Ballroom. We are pleased to congratulate the many Four Seasons residents who took the March CERT training provided free of charge by the City of Beaumont Office of Emergency Services. This follows our mission at Four Seasons to educate, train and be EPP prepared for the individual, group, neighborhood and community. Our main goal is to get as many neighbors CERT trained as possible. The training allows an understanding of the basic organization and action plans for disaster planning. Our EPP meetings have a similar focus. Our numbers are growing. There are various teams to address the community needs. At the March meeting, the Communication Team, led by Dick VanBree, gave a presentation and demonstration of Mobile Hand Held Radios and the need for each person to have and be trained on them. They encouraged us to come to their meetings held the last Friday of the month. Renee Watkins, liaison of Euclid brought in lanterns that could be used in case of a blackout. One had three different settings and even a red light to indicate distress. We have an important April meeting. The featured speaker will be California Hwy Patrol Captain Gregory Peck. He will talk about what is being transported along the 10 and 60 and what happens in an emergency such as a spill. Many were stuck on the I-10 when it closed and what can be done if that happens again will be addressed. Tip of the Month: Have ample sources of light in case of a blackout. Flashlights, lanterns, candles, most importantly – a supply of batteries that have not expired. We invite all to come our next meeting Thursday, April 4, at 10:30 am in the Lodge Ballroom. ~ Anita Worthen Community News | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2013 15
