Heart & Soul Line Dance Line Dancing The line dancing class continues to grow. I hope you were able to see how well they did at the last community performance in February. A big thank you to Cheryl Staples who continues to teach with me. Although the group is learning new dances and advancing, we always welcome those who want to start learning to dance to country music. We take the time to teach you one step at a time in the beginner's class and use easier dances to get you started. The most common dance, the Electric Slide has only 18 steps; it is a dance that is done at country dance functions everywhere. Come on out and join the fun, the exercise is a bonus. Beginners class at 3 pm Tuesdays in The Lodge Ballroom, advanced class follows at 3:45 pm. Any questions? Call (951) 769-3889. ~ Martha Franck Ballroom Dance Club We are dancing here… and there! About 40 of us showed up for an enjoyable Valentine's dinner dance here in our own Ballroom. We had pizza, salad, drinks, and lots of dancing fun. This year we're trying to go out more to dance. Because each place offers its own style of music and dancing, it's always an interesting experience. We find different sized dance floors, live bands and DJs, very good to not so good dancers, and everything in between. But overall, we expand our dance experience and have a very enjoyable time. In February, we went to Hemet West to dance. We were pleasantly surprised to find a live band and about 100 people all eager to move their feet to the beat. This is a relatively small space, so we learned how to negotiate a crowded dance floor and not bump into other dancers. Then in March, we attended the Great Gatsby dance at the Palm Springs Pavilion Ballroom. This is a huge dance floor, with 30 Welcome to all our new Heart and Soul Line Dancers. It is always a pleasure to have you join us. Dancing helps increase circulation and improves stamina, while we burn those calories away. It is estimated that dancing burns anywhere from five to ten calories per minute depending on speed and intensity. Consider that when we dance for one hour we burn at least 450 to 500 calories. How can that not be good for our bodies? So I say, "Let's keep dancing!" Beginner Level: Wednesdays, 4 - 5:20 pm Intermediate Level: Wednesdays, 5:30 - 6 pm For information contact Priscilla, (951) 922-0755. ~ Priscilla Robles plenty of room for everyone's style. There was a five-piece band and two singers who for the first part of the evening performed mostly East Coast Swing, Balboa Swing, Foxtrot and Charleston – perfect to go with the Great Gatsby theme. For the last part of the evening the band performed a wider variety of music for our dancing enjoyment. By watching what was happening on the floor, it was obvious that most people were very good, experienced dancers, and could move very well to whatever music there was. So if you have a hankering to learn to dance, not only here but at weddings, on cruises and just going out to dance, visit us on Monday evenings. You can see the March Breeze for the schedule and costs. St. Augustine said, "O man, learn to dance, or else the angels in heaven will not know what to do with you." Ann Williams and Jill Yanes had a lot of fun things planned for us. There was a fishing derby for the men, card games in the lodge one night, and a bingo night with "white elephants" as prizes. Of course, the women went on a shopping trip one day! We had 14 rigs there and everyone had a great time (except for Dorothy Meier, who broke her wrist!). In the planning stage is a trip for May 14 to 23, to some of California's finest wine regions. We will begin with a stay in Paso Robles where we will tour wineries, visit the downtown shopping area, and enjoy eating out. You should have already made your reservations for the Wine Country RV Resort for May 14 to May 16. The campground for the second part of the trip is the Alexander Valley RV Park and Campground near Healdsburg. Reservations should be made by calling (800) 640-1386 and reserving for spaces on hold for All Seasons RV Club for May 17 to May 23 (six nights). Rate is $45 per day and $2 per pet per day. Dorothy and Steve Meier and Nancy and Ron Morgan will be wagon masters for this trip. Future trips are planned for the Elks Rodeo in Santa Maria May 29 to June 2, and to Big Bear Lake July 21 to July 28. Reserve for Big Bear by calling Holloway's Marina at (800) 448-5335 and asking for spaces numbered 88 thru 95 already reserved for the club. Tim and Jane Jacobson are wagonmasters. If you have an RV come join us on one of our trips. We promise you will have a fantastic time! Our meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month at 6 pm in the Arts and Crafts Room at the Lodge. ~ Nancy Morgan Our Savior's Lutheran — ELCA • Food Pantry Mon., 9 - 11 am • 16 Self Help Groups • Synagogue 3rd Friday, 7 pm • Toddler Nite Wed., 5:30 pm • Worship 8 & 10:30 am (951) 849-3343 1320 W.
