| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2019 | 27 The month of October brings on the fall colors and the beginning of the holiday months. People get together with family and friends and share food, drinks and even music. Very few people ever give any thought to songs about food but here are a few for example: American Pie by Don McClean Polk Salad Annie by Tony Joe White Junk Food Junkie by Larry Groce The Watermelon Crawl by Tracy Byrd Pineapple Princess by Annette Funicello A Taste Of Honey by Herb Alpert Cheeseburger In Paradise by Jimmy Buffet Blueberry Hill by Fats Domino Bread And Butter by The Newbeats Cherry Cherry by Neil Diamond If any of these songs whet your appetite for a song to sing, why not join Rosie Ingalls, Barbara Miller and D.J.Blast for Goodtimes Karaoke this month. You choose the song and they will provide the music and the lyrics. You can sing, dance, eat or just watch and enjoy an evening out with friends. Best of all it's free. Why not join Barb, Rosie and D.J. Blast in the South Clubhouse On Fri., Oct. 25, 5:30 to 9 pm. We hope to see you then and, as usual, we will keep a warm mic on for you. Karaoke Group Our social chairman, Sandra Haines, planned another enjoyable social last month with some very enjoyable entertainment. The attendees brought heavy hors d'oeuvres and the club provided wine and dessert. These socials provide an opportunity for the members to socialize and get to know each other better. We encourage those of you who haven't attended one of our socials to do so. Auditions for our October production of It's a Wonderful Life were held last month and our director, Lee Stone, was very pleased with the enthusiasm of those who came out to audition. The cast has been chosen and rehearsals have started. We will provide our Sun Lakes community with a new experience with this play, especially if you haven't ever attended one of our other Readers' Theater productions before. This version is faithful to the film while being thoroughly entertaining as a radio-on-stage production. The actors will read from scripts, while standing at microphones, and sound effects artists will do the doors, footsteps in snow, Mr. Potter's squeaky wheelchair, etc. Our production will take place from Oct. 24-27 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Ticket sales will take place Oct. 14-23 from 9 am - 2 pm, $10 pp, in the Main Clubhouse lobby. Plan on buying your tickets early for best seat location and your choice of date. Tickets will also be sold at the door at each performance. This production promises to be a sell-out! Election of new officers for 2020 are coming up and we will be electing a new President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. If you are interested in becoming an officer in our club or have any questions about the duties involved, please contact Lee Stone at (858) 735-3216 or at leestone953@gmailcom. Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. If you have any interest in acting, helping backstage – especially for our October production – volunteering for other jobs, or are curious about what we do, come join us to see what we are all about. Join our Facebook group "Sun Lakes Playhouse" for more information as it happens. For membership information, please contact Sue Dunn at (951) 769-7552 or at alsuedunn@gmail.com.
