On Aug. 31, the IDS Hawaiian group danced for an enthusiastic and receptive audience of Districts 2, 4 and 5. The five dances, led by Sarah Thornberry and Diane Avina, were varied and beautiful, the favorite being "Kulai Wi," with puili sticks. There was a solo of her Ka Hiko Hawaiian chant dance by Sarah, and a duet of "I Am Hawaii" by Sarah and Diane. The group danced "Poliahu," and a few other numbers, ending the program with a sing along as the women performed "Aloha 'Oe." Ed Avina sang his mellow Hawaiian music between numbers. The Asian dancers, led by Joan Lau, are practicing diligently for their performance of "Jasmine Fan Dance" for the Sun Lakes Follies which will be held in November. They are the only IDS group dancing in the Follies this year. We will dance to the music of Global Affair. You will find a pre-set garden salad with mushroom/tomatoes/bleu cheese crumbles. The salad will be served with a choice of bleu cheese and Italian dressings. Our buffet entrée will consist of chicken marsala, short rib, mashed potatoes, brown gravy and chef 's vegetables. Our dessert will be pumpkin cheesecake. Sign up for this dinner dance on the first Thursday afternoon of the month at 3 pm at the North Clubhouse. Members will pay $25 and non-resident guests pay $28. Our try-before-you-join is still in effect. The try before you buy price is $28. For new members our annual club membership is $25 for the year. If you find after signing up that you cannot attend, call Carol Hurt at (951) 769-1315 no later than the following Sunday afternoon after the sign up and she will return your check.
