Computer Club This group is designed to provide emotional support to any resident mourning the death of a spouse, relationship, child, parent, or beloved pet. We gather together as "hearts with ears" in absolute confidentiality in a safe shared place where strangers may become friends. Each of us is unique; our grief cannot be identical to any other, and the way to get to the other side of your grief is to "go through." We cannot criticize or judge. We meet on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. For more information, you may call Barbara Searcy at (951) 663-3382. Bereavement Group The Genealogy Society will meet on Wed., Oct. 23, at 1:00 p.m. in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Leslie Williams will return as our guest speaker, and continue her discussion on creating your family story. She is a storyteller, adventurer, and writer, and will be sharing ideas on putting together a family story. Following is a poem that describes the reasoning for genealogy and storytelling: "We are the chosen. In each family, there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts, but instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are in the storytellers of the tribe." ~ French Canadian Heritage Society of Michigan. During this meeting, the Genealogy Society will select and vote on new officers for the upcoming year. The success of our club depends on the participation of its members to volunteer a little of their time. Bring and implement your ideas for making family research more rewarding. Genealogy Society The Sun Lakes Photo Group Meets on the second Monday of each month at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. As a group, there are no sign up fees to join. All we ask is that you have an interest in photography. Most months we share photographs that members bring in. Sometimes we hand out an assignment to be shared the following month. Occasionally we have a short tutorial or guest speaker that will follow the photo sharing session. Whether you're a beginner or advanced, we welcome all to join us.
