24 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2019 | The annual Art Show will be this Sat., Oct. 5, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom at 11 am until 2:45 pm. All residents and their guests are invited to attend this special event, and there is no admission charge. There will be paintings in oil, watercolor, acrylics, and pastels, along with photography, pottery, stained glass, jewelry, wood carvings, fabric art, china painting, sculptures, and much more. There are many talented artists living in Sun Lakes. So come and enjoy their beautiful artwork and vote for your favorites. You will also be able to take part in a "group painting," with the assistance of Sun Lakes resident professional artist, Joe Oakes. Don't miss this wonderful show. The next Art League general meeting is Thurs., Oct. 24 in the South Clubhouse at 2 pm. Newcomers are always welcome to attend. After a brief business meeting, refreshments, the Mini Art Show and voting, there will be a demonstration in oil painting by popular artist, David Fairrington. David will then teach the November classes in oil painting on Nov. 4, 11, and 18 in the Main Clubhouse Arts & Crafts Room, from 9 am until noon. Hitomi Nonaka presented a demonstration of kimono dressing and prepared a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony for our enjoyment. She is a teacher of the Japanese language and culture in Little Tokyo, downtown Los Angeles. The current October oil painting classes are being taught by the well known artist, Luz Perez on Oct. 7, 14 and 21. You still have time to enroll in these classes. Just call Carol Spoelstra.
