12 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2019 | OH RATS! Rats can be a problem. Rats can get into your attic. How? One way is if trees or shrubs are too close to your home, and are touching your roof or eaves. If this is the case (and you do not want rats) trim, trim, trim shrubs and trees away from your home (also plants too close to your home have the potential to damage the structure). Other items that attract rats can include bird feeders, dog or cat food left outside, and dense foliage (I'm looking at you ivy). Close the rat roads. Hopefully, you will have no more rats in the attic. OH RATS! As your Architectural Review Committee (ARC), we only have what you provide to us to review your request. Take a look at your application. Does it tell the story of what you want to achieve? Is it clear, readable, and understandable? Most of the applications we receive are well presented, and we can make a clear decision, hopefully getting you an approval in a timely manner. But when we have to guess what is being requested, have no information on what trees or plants you want, or colors of paint you are requesting, or do not meet the requirements contained in the Architectural Standards and Regualtions (ASR), our Committee has no choice but to deny your application and request more information to be reviewed at a later time. This delays your review, and is not the outcome your ARC desires. Please review your application, check your plans, and make sure items are addressed including a written description of your request, a list of materials or plants, specifications as needed, and a plan of your request that addresses measurements such as distances from the sidewalk, or property lines to requested improvements. Plans should be prepared to a scale, such as ¼ inch equals a foot. Our ASRs outline the specific requirements for each type of application… check it out and use it as a reference for preparing your application. If you have questions, contact your Architectural Assistant, Maria, at the Lodge. She is your best resource. OH RATS! Summer is over, but fall can be beautiful… and Christmas is just around the corner. Enjoy the beauty and community we all share here at Four Seasons! Architectural Review Committee Oktoberfest on the Plaza was a huge success. The attendees enjoyed wonderfully tasty bratwurst, chicken schnitzel and red cabbage. The games were the highlight of the event, with winners enjoying bragging rights. What a great way to usher in fall. Watch for pictures and more information about this first time event in the November Herald. If you missed out on attending Oktoberfest you will not want to miss Casino Night. Get your tickets right away to our Four Seasons Lucky Lady Casino Night on Sat., Nov. 9 from 6 to 9:30 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. Tickets are $25 each, resident tickets will go on sale Oct. 1, and guest tickets on Oct. 8. Save the date, buy your tickets, and look forward to a great time. The Social Committee is already planning events for 2020. We are looking forward to a Wine Pairing evening in February, the Fourth of July Celebration, a spooky Halloween Party and the annual New Years Eve Party. If you have any suggestion for events in the coming year or would like to chair an event please stop by the Lodge front desk and leave a message with your ideas for Mary Swinney or Donna Mc Laughlin. Members of the Social Committee, pictured, always welcome your comments, suggestions, and questions. We all enjoy planning and presenting events for all of the residents of Four Seasons to enjoy.
