"With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Kindness Recognition – In A World Where You Can Be Anything – Be Kind! Two Kindness Awards were presented at our September meeting: James Pope: "He has always been someone who would come to the aid of a neighbor. Most recently though, Jim went beyond his usual good neighbor role to taking on the task of "mini-gardener." Jim is pretty much a "green thumb" when you see that his entire back yard is full of every variety of succulent and cactus. His neighbor had purchased several containers of succulents and asked for his opinion about their location. After his review of the plants, he told her that the pots were not the right container for the succulents. He retrieved two containers from her back yard, carted the succulents to his house and replanted them. He also transported them back to her front door and told her how much water to give them." We recognize folks like Jim because it is the right thing to do. If we do anything in this life, it should be done with kindness. Thank you, Jim, and congratulations on the September Kindness Award. – Submitted by Jeanne Lincoln Linda Haynes: A number of good neighbors were assisting Clarence Meade after his brother's death. Clarence is autistic and needed help with food, transportation, etc. Among those "helpers" is Linda Haynes who has been an amazing anchor in arranging help with monies; getting Clarence a haircut; dog sitting and purchasing clothes, as Clarence has lost weight since his brother's death. Neighbors are hoping that Clarence can stay in our community as he has such a wonderful support system here. Needless to say, Linda Haynes is recognized today for her acts of kindness to a neighbor. Team Sunshine was privileged to award her the Kindness Award for September. Congratulations, Linda! – Submitted by Myrna James Celebrations of Life/Memorials: We were saddened to hear that Tina Garces has passed away. Our sincere condolences go out to Al and the Garces family. Information has also reached us of the passing of David Cowley. So often we find that reaching family members is a challenge and we are hoping to send our condolences to them as well. A Celebration of Life for David Billson was held in The Lodge Ballroom on Sept. 15 at noon. Brenda, as well as family and friends celebrated the life of a dear neighbor and friend. A special request to the community. If you know of a resident in your neighborhood who has suffered a loss, please ensure that Team Sunshine is alerted. The services we provide are many. A card and a loving and caring phone call can make a big difference. So often these folks suffer this grief alone. We are here to provide some support that lets them know "we care." Thank you. Programs: Our next scheduled Team Sunshine program will be held on Wed., Oct. 16 from 3 to 4 pm in the The Lodge Ballroom. Mark Ruybalid will be our facilitator. Mark is from Arbor Hospice and is planning a program on Caregivers and Resources. Mark will team with a social worker who will provide important resource information. We are hoping to include Mark's singing talents as well. Resource Meeting Reminder: A Caregiver Support Group meets the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30 to 11:30 am at 8190 Parry Drive in Four Seasons. Please join us for this very interesting and informative dialogue on "helps" when you are caring for a loved one in your home. Thank you. Team Sunshine Information: Please fill out a *NEEDS* Form at The Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who has recently lost a loved one. This form can also be used for various kinds of needs assistance. In case you prefer not to call but would like us to know of a need, this form will record your concern and will be passed on to the appropriate Team Sunshiner. Medical Equipment: We do have donated/used medical equipment that we deliver and pick up from residents. Residents who request medical equipment are required to sign a waiver form. Return of medical equipment is requested by contacting Jeanne Lincoln (765-7112). We have enlarged the medical equipment team to include: Rose Harvey, Donna Morrell and Patty Jones. In Team Sunshine, no one "gets the job done alone." Our Prayer Warriors: Marietta Ruppaner conducts a prayer circle once a month to pray for our residents in need. All are welcome to attend the prayer circle. Just give Marietta a call and she'll give you the date, time and place. Also, if you have a prayer request, get in touch with Marietta or place your prayer request in the Prayer Box in the MPR. We are thankful for the service they give to our community. Closing Thoughts: "I like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen." – Ernest Hemingway 22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2019 | Team Sunshine
