Billiards 28 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2019 | Tennis Friends After playing many heated matches in the sizzling sun this summer, tennis players look forward to the cooler autumn days. Whatever the weather, avid players can be found out on the courts competing in friendly round-robin matches. Players of all levels compete against each other; the first team to win four games wins the match. This modified version of a regular tennis set allows more players court time and provides players with the opportunity to compete against and play with a variety of players. This month, an array of women and men players plan to compete in women's, men's and mixed doubles tennis at the Oldlympics. Last year, several players brought home Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Results of this year's tournament will be published in the November or December Herald. When they're not playing tennis, Tennis Friends can be found celebrating players' birthdays. In September, more than 20 players gathered at the Lemongrass Asian Cuisine in honor of George Doktorczyk's and Dennis Uhlken's birthdays. Everyone is encouraged to come out to the courts and enjoy the fun. Hours are: Women's begins at 8 am, Monday and Friday; Men's begins at 8 am, Tuesday and Thursday; Mixed-up doubles begins at 8 am, Saturday. We extend this invitation to join our pool league, which plays Tuesdays, starting early October, usually 10 am until 1pm. We also get together with beginners and "rusty" players on Mondays at 3 pm. A group plays Wednesdays at 3 pm for a "handicapped" tournament that helps players get competitive. On Fridays we play a very competitive tournament for those that are serious players. For information contact Ron Cordero at (909) 519-9095 or Ed Sanders at (951) 567- 0959. Happy Campers RV Club The Four Seasons RV club meets in the card room on the first Saturday of the month at 10 am. This is a great way to connect with other residents that enjoy traveling in their home away from home. There are no dues. We do appreciate food donations for the Pantry in Hemet. For more information contact Melody Lewis (858) 775-1213. Come join the fun! We play on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays from 7:30 am to noon. We invite anyone that would like to learn how to play Pickleball to come on down the fourth Saturday of the month at 8 am for lessons. We know you will have as much fun as we do. Players of all skill levels welcome! Pickleball George Doktorczyk and Dennis Uhlken celebrate their birthdays at the Lemongrass restaurant with their tennis friends.
