38 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2019 We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 am in the RCN Room #3. Newcomers are always welcome, even if you haven't read the book. The Book Club selection for October is The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy. Here is a brief description of the book from Amazon.com: "Tom Wingo has lost his job, and is on the verge of losing his marriage, when he learns that his twin sister, Savannah, has attempted suicide again. At the behest of Savannah's psychiatrist, Dr. Susan Lowenstein, Tom reluctantly leaves his home in South Carolina to travel to New York City and aid in his sister's therapy. As Tom's relationship with Susan deepens, he reveals to her the turbulent history of the Wingo family, and exposes the truth behind the fateful day that changed their lives forever. Drawing richly from the author's own troubled upbringing, The Prince of Tides is a sweeping, powerful novel of unlocking the past to overcome the darkest of personal demons — it's Pat Conroy at his very best." Please join us when we discuss this book on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 9:30 am. Lori Brown will be leading the discussion. For those of you who like to read ahead, our book for November is scheduled to be Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. For more information, please contact Micki Rosen at michelesrosen@ gmail.com. ~ Micki Rosen Book Club The Performing Arts Club had another successful Radio Theater Show on Sept. 7. Thank you to all who attended and to those who laughed at all the funny lines, cringed while a nervous invalid woman dealt with terror and suspense, and applauded to show your appreciation. It is time for our club to finalize our shows and dates for 2020. We would love to hear from you with suggestions about what you would enjoy seeing. In addition, the Performing Arts Club is actively looking to increase our membership and attendees at our monthly meetings. We meet once a month on the fourth Tuesday, at 4 pm in the RCN Conference Room. Perhaps if we changed our meeting time to 6 pm more working residents could attend. We are looking for individuals who are interested in performing, producing, directing, choreographing, and/or working on backstage efforts. Interested? Have questions? Please contact Cathy Goldsmith, chairperson, at: cathyhg13@yahoo.com. Coming up… Holiday show, "A Country Christmas," Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7. Our holiday shows are always family friendly and one of our best attended shows of the year. John Noonan and Pat Wayne are producing this year's performance. The theme is Country which will include several talented singers and skits. Of course, our growing and professional sounding choir will once again grace us with beautiful and fun holiday music and an end-of- show Sing-a-Long. From the information I'm aware of, this show will be a definite fan favorite. Tickets are free and will be available in early November. Please check the Daily Report for more information on the specific day/time for ticket availability. ~ Teri Meyers-Kelman, Terimk@verizon.net, (951) 992-9156 Performing Arts Club
