40 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2019 Our members range from beginners to professionals using smart phones to medium format gear, with one thing in common: a passion for this art form. For many of us, photography keeps us grounded, focused, and in the moment. For me it's as necessary as breathing. Our mission to learn, share, and have fun with photography starts each meeting with an intro to new members, announcements of upcoming events, a segment of tips and tricks, and presentation on format, style, or gear use. We continue with sharing of the previous month's photo challenge works and the selection of the next month's photo challenge. We then have a discussion on outings and topic selection for upcoming months. At the August meeting our team leaders, John Baeyertz and John Hansen, handed the viewfinder over to me, ReNae Stueve. Both of these wonderful photographers and neighbors worked tirelessly to organize and structure our new group from its beginning. We thank you, John Baeyertz and John Hansen, for everything you have done for this group and this community. Now finally, you both have the freedom to enjoy your vision of this group and have some fun. Also in August we reviewed the blur and motion photos of the group. Submissions included ones by Jacque Sneddon who explained the method of the Zoom Burst effect. The September Challenge was to explore Black and White Photography. The demonstration on how to clean your sensor and lenses as well as lens changing best practices was presented by Larry Colby. Upcoming challenges and topics will include: composition, chiaroscuro lighting, and food photography as we coast into the holiday season. By the time this article is published, the September Art Fair will be over and you will have had a chance to visit with us at our Four Seasons Photography Club display. We hope you are inspired by our love of photography and community. Please join us for a visit or make it a regular stop on your calendar. The next meeting is Oct. 15, at 6:30 pm, in the RCN Main Room. Due to the interest and inspiration of our community's veterans, the club has taken a new azimuth. Sept. 29 was the first organizational meeting and it drew over 20 interested veterans, community service leaders, and family members. The members were treated to a number of presentations focused on veterans' services and volunteer opportunities. Members discussed future club social events and projects. They have decided to hold monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month in RCN Room 3 at 11 am. All Four Seasons veterans and their family members are encouraged and welcome to attend the meetings for information, fellowship, and of course those tall tales of days gone by.
