First place: Bob Rector, Dave Martin Second place: Bob Semler, Rocket Spinosa Dave Martin's mysterious pool cue attack 62 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2019 We held our third quarterly, in-house tournament in August. After fierce and tenacious battling, the teams of Dave Martin and Bob Rector secured first place; and Bob Semler and Rocket Spinosa landed second place. (See above photos of our winners.) Congratulations to all of the Billiards for Fun players. You have been dedicated and consistent in supporting our group. Thank you! We are not quite certain when Dave Martin was attacked by his pool cue. (See adjacent photo proof.) We understand this was after one of the losses that Dave and his cue suffered together. Apparently, the story goes that Rocky (Dave's dog) was the only witness to the cue attack, which happened in Dave's own home, and was dangerously close to his heart! Rocky (excellent guard dog that he is) promptly notified Dave's wife Teri; and she was able to remove the cue herself, without anticipated surgery. (Please note that this was Dave's personal pool cue attack, so don't be fearful of using any of the cues in the Billiards Room. As of this writing, we are informed that no other cues have been battling their users.) Just fear Dave Martin's pool cue, for sure. In the meantime, we hope you recover quickly, Dave. If this story hasn't frightened you off, please come join this fun (really!) group of awesome billiards players. We play formally every Tuesday at either 11 am or 1 pm. Come by the Billiards Room at The Lodge and check us out! Hope to see you soon. ~ Eileen Gilbert- Antoine, egcellent@msn.com Billiards for Fun Wild Bunch Billiards The Wild Bunch 8-Ball Billiards Group is geared for those individuals who want to play competitively with those of their skill level. We started the new year with inviting the "best of the best" from Sun Lakes and Solera to play competition on Fridays, from 12:30 to 3:30 pm in our Billiards Room. It has been a great success with the skill levels ranging from Level 4 to Level 7. We will be having our Second Annual Wild Bunch Billiards Tournament on Friday, Oct. 25. We will be competing with Sun Lakes and Solera, playing 8-Ball in the morning and 9-Ball in the afternoon. If you want to play serious, competitive pool, we invite you to come by the Billiards Room and join in the stimulation of competitive play. We do not play with partners; we play one-on-one with an opponent of your skill level. We are always looking for those who want to play competitively and, who knows, you just may want to change up your game and play on the team! And, most importantly, we have a good time. ~ Gracy Luna, gracyluna@aol.com
