FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2019 63 The 8-Ball Club holds two in-house tournaments each month, an 8-Ball tournament and a 9-Ball tournament. Most months we play four additional tournaments — two away and two at home with Hemet (Solera) twice and Cherry Valley (Solera) twice. In the August in-house 8-ball tournament we had 11 players' competing. When it got to the near the end we found Del Lyles Sr. and Larry Rice in the winners' bracket and Robert Howard in the losers' bracket as the final three players still standing. Larry sent Del to meet Robert where Robert won to meet Larry in the final. Robert looked like he was going to repeat his last month win but Larry was able to finish out the last rack to become this month's 8-Ball champion. Congratulations to Larry Rice, this month's 8-ball champion and Robert Howard, runner up. This month, also saw 11 players compete in the in-house 9-Ball tournament. Mary Ann Diehl lost in the semifinal only to come back to the final match to meet Larry Rice who defeated her in the semifinal. Mary Ann won the first match but lost the second match when she missed the final shot on the 9-ball. Congratulations to Larry Rice this month's 9-Ball champion and Mary Ann Diehl, runner up. This month the 8-Ball Club held its summer get together at Paul and Brenda Carrocino's beautiful backyard. Special thanks to Paul and Brenda for opening their home to the 8-Ball club and hosting this event. The 8-Ball Club is always looking for new players. We play or practice Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights from 6:30 to 9 pm. There is a calendar of our events in the Billiards Room on the 8-Ball Club bulletin board. Many have been on vacation, enjoying grandchildren, or just gettin' in some sunshine. Since we alternate our article for Cues 4 Two and Curly Cues every other month, this may sound like old news but we want to acknowledge our winners of the Fourth of July FS sponsored tournament: 1st place: Pat Semler & Beverly Lunetta 2nd place: Sharon Bond & Alex Vanhoose In August, we held our regular quarterly tournament. We play Mondays from 11 am to 1 pm doubles and 1 to 3 pm singles. It is a great way to meet a fun group of ladies. Bring your energy and be prepared to have some fun. ~ Richard Hoffman Pool Volleyball Anticipating our weather turning cooler, pool volleyball will end soon when the pool water heater is turned off at The Courts. As long as the outdoor temperature reaches 75 degrees at noon, we play on Mondays in the month of October. Our skill level has improved over the past two summers because we actually have rallies… and we always have fun.
