48 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2019 | Members of the Sun Lakes Tennis Club enjoy an active lifestyle by participating in a wide variety of competitions and social events that are incomparable to other communities. Many of these events were highlighted at the third quarterly meeting in September. Additionally, the membership unanimously voted to accept a beautiful painting of a tennis player by artist Pala Carden that was donated by her brother. Fall brought club members their last opportunities to engage in Friday Night Lights and World Cup Tennis, social tennis activities followed by delicious potluck dinners. Sally Jo Schwartz and Michele Walter were recognized for their outstanding contributions for each of these events. Five teams competed in the annual Sun Lakes Men's Doubles Championship in October. Sun Lakes Tennis Club members Bob Kutch and Daryl Barton, David Nethercott and Alan Lott, Jeff Mulqueen and Bob Walter, Pat Cater and Kelly Curtis, and Steve Van Loon and Tom Wittington competed in exciting matches. The tournament was coordinated by Sally Jo Schwartz and Michele Walter and resulted in Pat Carter and Kelly Curtis winning the consolation round over Alan Lott and David Nethercott and Tom Whittington and Steve Van Loon triumphing over Daryl Barton and Bob Kutch in the finals.
