SLCC Golf & Pro Shop News By Alan Vallecorsa As most of you all are aware, the past couple of months the golf course has been under some major construction. The drainage channel running through Holes #14-16 has been the focus. Progress has been moving steady and on schedule. At this point Hole #14 has the drainage pipes and the majority of the new grass installed. We still have more structure stone work to do at the right-side of the green and additional sprinkler work to be done. Additionally, we are working on the improvement of the cart path at the tee areas along with new landscaping and Turf Reduction down the left-side of the Hole. The Hole should be re-opening in mid to late October. Hole #15 has all of the drainage-pipe installed with the final structure work being done at the mid-point on the left-side of the hole. New sod has been installed. New drought-tolerant plants will be installed. Most likely the irrigation will go in first and plantings would be completed after frost. We are still looking at this based on timing of the work and the calendar. Hole #16 is the last area and is now being started. We have channel work, stone structures and shaping of the area to do as well as irrigation and landscape work. The construction completion for the channel work is scheduled for late November per the contract and this project should be completed at or be better than the budget. The best possible scenario would be for us to get no rain…. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Other Golf Course News: We have started our overseeding and aeration programs for the fall season. The south practice area is currently closed with newly planted seed with the remaining tees to follow over the next few weeks. The greens healing time is usually 14-21 days from the date of procedure. Please look at the website and monthly calendar for updates and closures. You can also get this by calling the main shop at (951) 845-2135 ext.1. This is a very busy time on both golf courses, we are optimistic for a successful autumn. GAC News: The golf advisory committee would like to remind everyone who is not checking with in the golf shops will cost you $50. In addition to the $50 fine the appropriate golf rate would also apply of when you played. If you are going out to play when the golf shop is closed please sign the after-hours sheets or leave a voice mail to avoid this penalty. Also you walking or you walking your dog is not allowed on the golf courses. For your safety from cart and car traffic please use the sidewalks when walking.
