November is the month of recognizable events starting with daylight savings time ending, then we have Veterans Day and ending with Thanksgiving. Most folks look forward to Thanksgiving, when they can enjoy the most of all goodies, including that wonderful turkey. I say most folks because in recent years people have moved to chicken, duck, beef roasts, etc. Whatever your pleasure, go for it, and if you are vegan enjoy that lifestyle. Let's talk about two committees that are very important to our organization. The first committee is the Social. This group is headed up by Co-chairs Donna McLaughlin and Mary Swinney. They have a supporting cast of eight people. It is hard to fathom that they can host so many social events. I understand that they are clever enough to temporarily recruit additional folks when necessary to bolster their ranks. Something else I find appealing about them is the pricing for events. They manage to keep the prices as low as possible for the average person. The other committee is Library. Lead by Cookie Scott and Char Weakley the committee is composed of nine hard working people. One would think what can this committee be about? Well, you would be impressed at the level of discussion during their meetings. They know how to organize the library, inventory the books, decide when to send books to other outlets (like the Hemet Library). During any meeting the level of discussion rises to that of a college classroom. They meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, at 12:30 p.m. Check them out. Until next month Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones. See you at the next Board meeting.
