18 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | NOVEMBER 2019 By Clare Mendez, Resident I hope you were able to come to the Welcome Committee New Resident Orientation on September 25. The Mixer was your opportunity to meet with your neighbors and to share with them a bit about yourself. After watching and listening to what was happening here at Solera and in Hemet I know you will not be bored. So, for the new comers I askā¦. What are you waiting for? Take a look at the clubs and organizations listed here in The View. Most don't require any commitment on your part. Just show up when you can and enjoy the company of like-minded people. Not into clubs and organizations? Don't let fear of commitment keep you out of the Lodge. Take a swim or use the gym. Join in a game of ping pong or billiards. There are some very happy and willing folks wanting to challenge (er, I mean, teach) you. From my own experience, my mentors are patient with anyone who is just learning or not getting the knack. No one is stopping you. This is your playground. Reading or Board Games are more your thing? Again, check the view for dates and times you can play card games, Mah Jong, Rummikub, or Charades etc. The library is used on the honor system. Take one down, read it at your own pace, and then return it to the cart in the hallway. The library club meets the third Tuesday each month and can always use temporary help sorting out and putting books back on the shelves. Have you ever read a really good book and want to share it with others? There's a book club for that. What about parties? Here's where it gets interesting. Richard Booth, Jenevieve Banuelos, and the Recreation Committee make it impossible to sit still. The parties held at the Lodge three or four times a month are social gatherings for neighbors to talk, laugh, dance, and just plain have fun. If you just want to chow down, then be sure to sign up for the brunches and dinners offered. Already all set here at Solera? Hey, we were all the new kid on the block at one time so be sure to say hello to anyone you don't know and show them the ropes. The newly formed Welcome Committee needs your help inviting new homeowners to join your group or to sit at your table. What more could you ask for? Occasionally, you may want to wander off to Hemet or nearby towns. You'll find a list of Hemet Happenings in The View also. Is there more? You betcha. Once you get to know your way around we hope you will become a volunteer or Committee member or serve on the Board of Directors. It's All Right Here
