SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | NOVEMBER 2019 5 LIFESTYLE DIRECTOR REPORT By Richard Booth, Lifestyles Director With the holidays coming up, weight gain is on many minds. Here are a few tips on keeping that holiday weight at bay. Use moderation when cheating on your diet: Allow yourself to indulge a little here and there but limit your portions. Make yourself a goal to do something active each day: Try to get out and move for at least 30 minutes each day. Eat a balance of macronutrients: Do not cut out any food groups. If you are hungry, fill up on protein and veggies. Protein increases your metabolism up to 20 percent and veggies take more calories to digest than what they contain. Limit your alcohol consumption: You are better off eating an extra cookie than consuming numerous cocktails. Excess alcohol just contributes to too much fat gain. Drink plenty of water: Many times, we will overeat because we are dehydrated and thirsty. Therefore, make sure that your water intake is adequate. Eat your regular scheduled meals: If you skip meals in the preparation for a family gathering and the buffet of food is set out at a holiday party, you are setting yourself up for disaster. Saturday, December 14, 1 to 3:30 pm We need homeowners to open their holiday decorated home for our Holiday Home Tour. This year you have two weeks after Thanksgiving that will give you more time to decorate your home. Keep in mind we must have six homes to tour. We would like to have eight homes. This community has over 500 homes. Please sign up. I know it is hard work to decorate your home. But on tour day you will have lots of fun showing your home to our community. Believe me just ask past tour homeowners. To sign your beautiful home up for the tour you will need to go to the Front Desk at the Lodge starting Friday November 1. Last day for sign ups is Monday, December 9. If we don't get enough homes, sorry to say, our tour will be canceled. An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday November 12 at 10 am, at the Lodge. It's fun and you will get answers to your questions. Maybe I'll have cookies. If you have any questions about our seventh annual Holiday Home Tour and unable to attend the meeting, please feel free to call me Jeanette White (951) 925-5610. Holiday Home Tour
