60 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2019 October has been a fun-filled month! We did have hindering winds but after a week of not being able to play, we came out in full force. This was the first time since we opened two years ago that all eight courts were full. We are at 150 members and still growing. We have morning, afternoon, and evening players. A time and court for everyone. So come on out and try it. Make sure you wear the proper footwear — tied court shoes and no running shoes or slip ons. We have new shirts for sale with our group logo. See Lydia Luna if interested. She has samples and is taking orders now. On Oct. 26 we had a fall festival "in house" tournament. Participants were encouraged to dress up and prizes were awarded. Yundell Montalbo and Gary Condurachi won for best costumes. We had women's doubles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and singles. It was a warm wonderful gathering. Our new medals were given out. Thanks to Jesse and LynnRae for their hard work. Doug's dogs were delicious, decorations scary, music perfect! (Thanks Tracy.) It really made us realize that we have so much to be thankful for this holiday season. We do have a great, fun group of people. On Nov. 5, about 20 of us went to the USA Pickleball National Championships in Palm Desert. We were there to support our beloved Jeromee Liebenberg who had qualified to participate by winning gold medal in a previous tournament in men's singles. He put up a great fight and it was a treat to watch all these fantastic players compete. All sizes and ages and skill levels. Pickleball does prove to be the fastest growing sport in America. On Dec. 20 we will be having our catered holiday party. Music, games, good food and new and old friends will toast another great year on our courts. Many more tournaments are coming in the future. Palm Desert Senior Games and a tournament at the RV Park and Spa in Desert Hot Springs are all in February. Sign up is now. See Nancy Barnaby for more information. Also check our information board outside the courts.
