The Four Seasons Motorcycle Club (MC) recently went on a two- day ride to Jacumba. In case you are not familiar with it, Jacumba is a tiny town on the Mexican border, about 80 miles east of San Diego. Making this ride was Terry Humble (Harley Davidson) plus guest, Scott Snyder (Victory), Joe Bert (BMW) and Jim Ayala (Yamaha). This is our third year in a row making the ride to Jacumba. Even though it's just a two-day ride, it's fun because we get to experience two entirely different riding terrains. On day one, the route is best described as more desert in nature. Our route took us along the Salton Sea, working our way to Borrego Springs for lunch. Then we headed south to Ocotillo for fuel before heading west along the border to Jacumba where we spent the night at the quaint Jacumba Hot Springs Resort. After parking the bikes for the night and unpacking, we ended up in the pool and eventually joined up for dinner at the resort restaurant, relaxing and enjoying conversation about the day's ride. The following morning we met up for breakfast and then we hit the road for the ride home. In contrast to the first day's ride, day two can best be described as winding mountain forest roads with incredible views on our way through Cuyamaca Rancho State Park to Julian for lunch. The last leg of our two-day riding adventure was through Warner Springs on our way to Sage Road and then north through Hemet and up the hill to Beaumont. 2019 has been a wonderful year for multi-day rides. In addition to our multi-day rides, the MC meets every Thursday at 9 am (weather permitting) for a daily ride of 150 to 200 miles. Recent extremely high winds have been a little frustrating as we have had to cancel some of our weekly rides. The winds have been too strong for safe riding. Still, there's plenty of Thursdays left before the winter rains set in. If you've been thinking of joining the MC, we invite you to join us on one of our weekly rides. We meet at The Lodge parking lot around 8:45 am for a short briefing and then we are on the road at 9 am. Our destination changes weekly as we have plenty of options. We may head out to the desert via Idyllwild, or maybe ride up to Big Bear, or possibly go over the Ortega Highway to San Clemente for lunch, or perhaps take a mountain ride to Julian, or maybe ride through the Temecula wine country. The list goes on. Regardless of the destination, we generally find ourselves back home by mid-afternoon. If you have questions, feel free to call club president Terry Humble at (909) 706-2298, vice president Scott Snyder at (562) 714-7252, or secretary Jim Ayala at (951) 392-6259. ~ Jim Ayala, jimrayala95@ gmail.com 58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2019 Motorcycle club Leaving Jacumba and heading home All lined up at the border in Jacumba Enjoying our visit to Borrego Springs
