10 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2019
One million, 400 thousand steps, 614
miles, and total elevation gain of 42,000
feet. This was the statistical part of our
adventure on the Camino de Santiago. We
left Sept, 3, 2019, and returned Oct. 16, 2019.
Many books professed that the Camino
really begins when the Camino is over. We
do feel somehow transformed. We walked
from St. Jean Pied de Port in France, through
the magnificent Pyrenees Mountains across
the northern spine of Spain. We walked from
14 to 22 miles a day. Our life was simple and
somehow pure. We got up, we walked, we
ate, we slept… repeat for 38 days.
Living The Dream, One Step At A Time
As you may remember from the September
issue of the Breeze, our neighbors Linda Ruoff
and Laurie Wolfenden, were off to a once-
in-a-lifetime journey in Spain. Our Four
Seasons adventurers left early September
to join the pilgrimage to Spain's Santiago de
Compostela, or Camino de Santiago (the Way
of Saint James).
Linda and Laurie have returned home
with inspirational stories of their journey
during the 38-day hike. The Camino is not
a race, but a personal rewarding mission in
mind, body, and spirit.
Their next bucket list item is doing the
Portuguese Camino, which is about 250
miles. We'll all be interested in hearing the
next chapter in the lives of Linda and Laurie.
Following, is their story, in their words. ~
