It's hard to believe that we are wishing everyone at Four Seasons a joyous holiday season and Merry Christmas already! So much is offered at Four Seasons in December and we become so busy. Remember, you will need quiet time to fully enjoy this season so step into this beautiful room, exhale, and grab a book or magazine. Our door is always kept open without any "business" being conducted. This is truly your room. Sorry I was remiss in wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving. I still think its summer with our 85 degree temperatures. All our committee members are avid readers. I just returned from our luncheon with our November speaker, David Putnam. Joining us were our library officers, Char, Sue and Kay. We are asking first rate author's to speak "free of charge." We want Four Seasons rated five stars around the water cooler of the writer's guilds. We have accomplished just that but would like a higher attendance. We hope you were present for David's talk. Our "rules," are simply guidelines for us to display as many books and magazines as possible. The committee determined the year 2010 as the cut-off date for our hardbound books to be displayed on the shelves. Prolific authors like Patterson, Cussler and Nora Roberts seem to write a book a month. A cut-off date allows us room to display new authors for your enjoyment. Our audio books have been split and put in two places. If you will go down to the cabinets under the hardbound section under "P" you will find the other audio books. I know you make a list for Santa, why not add an audio book, listen to it and bring it our library. Our magazines are displayed by the last three months. As of now please bring October, November and December dated ones to our library. We have been receiving more magazines lately and we thank you. Do you have a friend or relative in an assistant living community that would benefit from receiving books? Please let us know. We have great hardbound and paperback books that fall below our designated display dates that we would like to share so do contact us with the address. Our paperback selection displays the years 2015-2019. Four years keeps the cabinet full. Four Season's library works on the honor system. When you "borrow" a book you need to return it. Seems pretty simple. Let's keep our library full. We want to thank our BOD President, Jim Hatcher, for his kind words regarding our library committee. He was an awesome liaison to the BOD for us. You may wonder what problems can a library committee experience? Well, you wouldn't believe it. All of our liaisons have been aware of these problems and helped us work through them or at least deal with them through the years. We thank everyone, going back to our dear friend, Hal Townend. He was the "original" library man. I hope he is proud of that room. Don't forget to read! It will expand your mind and take you to places you never thought you'd get to. Come to the Lodge just to peruse a magazine and relax and, always, always, take time to read… Cookie.
