70 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2019 | Friends we will miss Jeannette Bowers was born February 11, 1924 and passed away October 11, 2019. Jeannette Bowers was a true and faithful servant of the Lord. Jeannette was born Jeannette Adelia Gates in Millard, Nebraska. Jeanette and Walter meet in their early childhood, and after a brief separation caused by Jeannette's family moving out of the area for a while, Jeannette and Walter started dating July 4th, 1942. They were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1942. In October of 1943 Walter was inducted into the US Navy for WWII. They moved to Idaho, Tennessee, and finally to Florida where they stayed until Walt got out of the Navy. They then returned to Lincoln, Nebraska where they had their only son David in 1946. In 1957, they moved to California and stayed there until 1969 when they moved to Grants Pass, Oregon. They stayed in Oregon until their retirement in 1986. They then spent two and a half years traveling the country in an RV. In 1988, the Lord led them to Kansas City, where they stayed for three years and worked for Stone Croft Ministries. In 1990, they moved back to California to take care of Jeannette's mom in La Puente, and to be close to her granddaughters Dawn and Deeanna. In 1992, they moved to Sun Lakes. In all these years Jeannette held many jobs: secretary, seamstress, restaurant owner, caterer, tax collector, and even started a program called SALT, which fed Seniors in Grants Pass. But the job she loved most was being a Missionary of Jesus Christ. Jeannette loved sharing God's word with everyone. Jeannette was a true and faithful servant of the Lord. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Jeannette was preceded in death by her son David in 2016, and she leaves behind her husband of 77 years, Walter Bowers; her daughter-in-law Linda Bowers; her sister-in-law Billy Gates; her grandchildren Dawn and Tim Ellis, Deeanna and Lee Isley; her great-grandchildren David and Rose Coleman, Robert Riser, Nicole Ellis, and Mattea Isley; her great-great-grandchildren, Sophie Harrison, Alexi Riser, Thomas and Carlos Riser; and her niece and nephew Patty and Richard Seiberling; and many other friends and church family.
