20 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | January 2020 | "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" As Team Sunshine begins 2020, we thank the Four Seasons community for their support of this special volunteer team. We find a great personal reward in reaching out to those in our community who need our help. Kindness Awards: We were pleased to honor Ken Malarkey with our December Kindness Award. Geri Richmond tells us that "Ken went above and beyond on the Pickleball Court as he tried to save a man's life." Ken administered CPR to a man who had collapsed. Unfortunately, the man passed away "doing what he loved." The duo of Bruce Williams (Gary Johns will be featured in the February Herald) honored here were nominated by Barbara Hughes. She tells us: "The Hughes' were "venting" to their neighbors about the loss of grass in their front yard - fearing that it most likely was a problem with aeration. If not, the cost of replacing could run into a $600 sod project. The next morning, Bruce and Gary were working in the hot sun aerating and soaking the Hughes' yard convinced that this was the problem. The work took several hours but the end result was that the grass improved 95%. We salute these men for their help and their kindness to the Hughes family. Barb says, "They deserve the biggest Kindness Award ever." Thank you, Bruce Williams and Gary Johns Celebrations of Life/Memorials: We recently learned of the passing of Larry Iannotti. We send our condolences to Sandy and the Iannotti Family. A private Celebration of Life was held on Dec. 13 in the Iannotti home. We were saddened to learn of the passing of long-time resident, Linda Bryan. This sweet bubbly lady will be missed greatly in the Four Seasons community. A Celebration of Life was held on Dec. 8 in the Lodge Ballroom for about 80 family and friends. Our condolences go out to Jimmy and the Bryan family. We also received word that Victor Ruedy passed away. A Celebration of Life will be held on Jan. 11. Our sympathies go out to the Ruedy family. "Grief, I've learned is really just love. It's all the love you want to give but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go." Team Sunshine Information: A special request to the community. If you know of a resident in your neighborhood who has suffered a loss, please ensure that Team Sunshine is alerted. The services we provide are many. A card and a loving and caring phone call can make a big difference. So often these folks suffer this grief alone. We are here to provide some support that lets them know "we care". Thank you. Resource Meeting Reminder: A Caregiver Support Group meets the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30 to 11:30 am at 8190 Parry Drive in Four Seasons. Please join us for this very interesting and informative dialogue on "helps" when you are caring for a loved one in your home. Thank you. We often ask our residents to pick up a "Caring Connection Card" which summarizes the services we can provide. This card is available at the Lodge front desk along with a "Needs Card" for residents who have suffered injury or loss. Requests for medical equipment is also listed on the back of our Caring Connection Card along with other information. Marietta Ruppaner conducts a prayer circle once a month to pray for our residents in need. Give Marietta a call (325-8348) and she'll give you details. Also, a prayer request box is located in the MPR. Closing Thoughts: "Someday everything will make perfect sense. So, for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason." - Unknown Team Sunshine With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning
