32 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2020 | Happy New Year! I wish each of you a happy and healthy 2020. Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., Jan. 16 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker will be Stuart Furman, an attorney with more than 30 years of experience, who due to personal experiences with his own parents and in-laws, became focused on elder care issues. He has written two well-received books: The Elder Care Ready Book and The Elder Care Ready Pack. He has appeared on numerous radio shows and writes an Internet blog about elder care issues. Save This Date: Jan. 16! You don't want to miss this guest speaker. We have a wonderful program for the patients in the Arts & Craft Room. We have fun… we sing, dance and sometimes we play bingo. Most months we have live music. Drop your loved ones off at the Arts & Crafts Room on your way to the meeting. We are a group of loving caregivers. We enjoy caring for your loved one so you can go to the meeting and not worry about them. If you have any questions, would like to learn more about Memory Loss, or would like reading material that we can loan you, call Diane, (951) 769-0130, Doug, (360) 840-5559 or Anne, (951) 845-8700. Remember we are here to help. Did You Know: More than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. By 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 14 million. Caregiver Support Group In November we had our regular and beloved Ray Renden sing for us. He began with the Hawaiian Wedding Song along with Perla Williams of the Makua Hula Hawaiian Dancers dancing along with him for a very special combination. Then he shared an array of his musical genius regulars like Blue Bijou, You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You and many more that we all love and enjoy. Thank you, Ray, we love you! Our club is transitioning over from the third Saturday of the month to the first Saturday of the month so we will have no gathering in January as that is too close and still part of the holidays for many. So our first gathering in 2020 will be on Sat., Feb. 1. We will now be consistently in the South Clubhouse on the first Saturday of each month. Feel free to visit us once to give us a try before deciding if you want to join, it'll be worth it, I'm sure. But we always need a headcount for the caterer. Please get your reservation in by the 20th of the month to Donna Harrington at (909) 561-5066. Your checks can be dropped off made out to 80s Plus Club at 5393 Riviera. Our dues are $10 a year to be a member and our catered dinners are $13 per person. For information about the club call Diane Aarhus at (951) 797-3676. Spouses and caregivers are welcome as well as visiting children or other out-of-town guests. Come have a good time with us. We might surprise you. 80s Plus Club The All Is Well Group has been approved by the Master Board at their last open meeting. This is our vision: To establish daily contact with the solo resident in order to determine that "All Is Well" for the day. Such personal contact on a daily basis will not only reveal the possibility of an urgent need which we could refer to the proper resource, but satisfy the desire of every resident for human contact. We will meet Jan. 8, at 8:30 am in the Main Clubhouse Bus Room to discuss how to proceed and decide the best way to implement the program. If you attended the first meeting, you should have received a telephone call with this information. If you did not attend the first meeting but have a desire to participate as a provider or as a benefactor, please join us. For further information, call Barbara Searcy at (951) 663-3382.
