34 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2020 | Well, we finally said good-bye to 2019, with some mixed emotions. With a great deal of hope we are looking forward to having a really good 2020. We will give you just about a week to recuperate from the Holidays before we start our busy January schedule. Our Country Western Dance is on Thurs., Jan. 16. Our dances are in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom starting at 7 pm and lasting to about 9 pm. All evening long we do both line dances and couples dances. We will continue with the Monday evening line dance lessons. Since the class is doing so well we will start teaching intermediate difficulty line dances. The first instruction for 2020, will be Mon., Jan. 6. Lessons will also be on Mondays, Jan. 13, 20, and 27. Lessons are at the South Clubhouse from 7 to 8:30 pm. Country Western Dance Dinner Dance Club On the evening of Jan. 18, the Dinner Dance Club will welcome in 2020 in the Ballroom. Anne Wood has designed a meal celebrating Robert Burns, a renowned Scottish poet. We are starting our meal with warm dinner rolls and a potato and cheese soup. Our choice of entrees include: • Seared Cod Fish, $24 • Steak and Ale Pie with Puff Pastry, $23 • Vegetarian Meatloaf, $22 Each entrée is served with Scottish roasted potatoes, carrots and peas. The dessert is sticky toffee pudding with whipped cream. Music will be provided by Showdown, an excellent group. Doors open at 5:30 pm so come and socialize before the music begins at 6 pm. Our dress code is dressy casual. The January sign-up dates are from Jan. 2 to Jan. 9. Sign-up forms need to be completed with your table group and checks turned in to 5836 Indian Canyon Dr. Looking forward to seeing you on Jan. 18. Following a busy holiday season with family and friends, the International Dancers of Sun Lakes are eager to embark on practice for their big show in November, 2020. They look forward to resuming a regular schedule and are excited about new dances. The annual Christmas party was a big success and enjoyed by all attending. The meal was provided by Thomas Catering and music by Ed Avina contributed to the joy of the holidays. New members are welcome to join IDS and no dance experience is required.
