FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2020 43 Country Line Dancing International Folk Dancing Happy New Year! After all the parties, all the food, and too little exercise, it is time for a fresh beginning. We have so many physical activities to help us get healthier. There is the exercise room and many folks in there will assist you in figuring out how to use the machines. There is pickleball, paddleball, and tennis, or the slower- paced bocce ball. You can simply walk our trails or join the hiking group. There are four dance groups. Many of these are free, or a very low fee. You just need to show up and give them a try. It takes three weeks to establish a new habit, so don't give up the first few weeks. Line dancing does not require a partner. It does require concentration, which is so good for your brain. It mostly requires that you are able to move your feet. I teach one step at a time and start with very easy dances. A 30-minute very beginner class will start at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Stop by and give it a try. Beginners at 2 pm, Intermediate at 3 pm and Advanced at 3:45 pm. I ask for a dollar donation each week, which goes towards the end of the year party. Hope to see you on the dance floor. ~ Martha Franck, (714) 345- 8588 International Folk Dancer, Tsylia Hoffman, is starting a new class and everybody is welcome! It's time to get rid of those holiday calories. Why not add line dancing to your workout schedule? It's loads of fun without feeling the burn. Our dancers ended 2019 with participation in the Beaumont Cherry Valley Recreation & Parks District's 27th Annual Winterfest. Rain or shine the show went on, and as always, we had a fun time. We showcased dances to holiday songs, and we finished with audience participation to popular dances. They always get the crowd moving. Our class schedule is Beginners 4 to 5 pm; Intermediate/Advanced 5 to 6 pm. The beginner session will see a format change, concentrating on learning specific steps and modifications, learning fewer dances, but adding to each week's selections. The intermediate/advanced session will be challenging with learning dances with more intricate steps, adding tags and restarts, learning beats, and body movement. Please arrive on time and don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Save the dates: Sunday, Jan. 19, Feast of Epiphany, Fontana Saturday, Feb. 15, Line Dance Workshop, Four Seasons Beaumont Saturday, March 7, Heart and Soul Line Dance, 16th Anniversary/ Mardi Gras Celebration, Pomona More details will be available in class. See you on the dance floor! For more info., call (909) 239-6464. ~ Priscilla Robles
