A new year means new beginnings and things will inevitably change. The most notable change that is buzzing around the community presently relates to our on-site staff. If you haven't heard it through the grapevine yet, Richard Booth has resigned from his position in the pursuit of a new career path. He will be greatly missed by the residents and staff members alike. In the wake of his departure, our very own Melissa Valona will be your new Lifestyle Director and Jenevieve Banuelos will move into the role of Property Services Manager. There will also be two additional team members joining the office staff shortly and I'll make those introductions soon. Thank you in advance for your anticipated patience and understanding while our existing team members settle into their new roles and the new staff members get up to speed. The Board is presently looking for a volunteer to serve on the Interior Design Committee. This ad hoc committee is in the process of making some design concept recommendations to the Board for the pending redesign project in the Lobby. If this is a project that interests you, please submit a Volunteer Interest Form and submit your name for appointment consideration. The Declarant Appointee, Bruce Bonafede, has resigned from the Board of Directors, effective 12/31/19. The Board of Directors will appoint a homeowner into this vacant seat in the very near future. If you are interested in serving on the board of Directors, please contact me for further instruction. Last month, I let you all know that we are running over budget on the water expenses. This month, I am very happy to report that the FAC noticed an EMWD billing discrepancy and as a result, we will be getting back $15,874.98 which will help offset some water expenses year to date. Additionally, we were able to get a water budget variance approved by EMWD which resulted in a $3,025.49 bill credit. Even with this great news, we are still going to be over budget on the water this year. Please continue to be mindful of your water use in the facilities and also make sure to report broken/malfunctioning irrigation right away. I am so very excited to see what 2020 brings. I believe great things are on the horizon for us all! Also, I need to do a little retraction on the patrol article we ran a couple months back. (attached) This is what the article said: Question: What is the role of Community Patrol with regard to responding to a crime? Answer – It is important to be aware that the main responsibility for Community Patrol is to observe and report. Crime in-progress – If a crime is detected by, or reported to, the Community Patrol Officer such as a physical altercation or evidence of a break-in; Community Patrol Officers are NOT to call in a crime unless they have witnessed it themselves. The police department has advised Guard Systems that they prefer the person who witnessed the incident continued on page 4
