| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2020 | 9 Happy New Year to all! Do Dues Day is fast approaching on Sat., Jan. 4. Please stop by the Library table and sign up. Library membership is $15 per year per household. This allows you to check out any of our new books. We normally purchase anywhere from 20 to 25 books per month. We will also take your membership fee any time before or after that date. Just give it to a librarian or the front desk. Your membership allows us to have the latest books on hand for your reading pleasure. The Library Association is happy to announce the 2020 slate of officers: President, Jean Hefler; Vice-President, Linda Budd; Secretary Barbara McCall; and Treasurer Ellen Kippel. Nancy Bolton's book talk in November on The Library Book was very well received. Those who attended found it stimulating and informative. The "Holiday Readers Afternoon" was deemed a fabulous event. The library would like to thank the Readers' Theater for their wonderful performances. Reminder: Because of renovations, the library may not be accessible to our patrons on certain days. We do not have a time schedule yet, but will let you know as soon as we have the information. The inconvenience will be more than made up when we see our lovely renovated Clubhouse. One of our more popular authors is Louise Penny. She writes an amazing series of mystery books. Her main character is Inspector Armand Gamache of the Surete du Quebec. The novels are set in the small village of Three Pines in Quebec and are peopled with the most interesting characters. Although each book is designed to stand alone, they are best read in order as Penny does develop her characters through the books. Several of her books are available in our library including her latest, A Better Man, which can only be checked out by members at this time. The library is open whenever the Clubhouse is open. However, reserve books are available for checkout Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am to 12 pm and Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 pm subject to Clubhouse renovations. "Browsing through the shelves of a bookstore or library, I was completely happy." ~ Louis L'Amour.
