Happy New Year to Everyone! We made it through- whew- what a ride that was! We are about to embark into 2020 with new officers in the clubs, new committee members, and a renewed energy. The month starts off with Do Dues Day. A lunch is planned for attendees and sponsored by the RV Club. People ask how that name "Do Dues Day" came to be. Well, the answer is simple: that is when your dues are do. Huh? The Front Desk will accept checks for the various clubs all year long. The Front Desk acts as a mailbox for the membership. The annual 2020 bag tags are in and available for pick-up. There is no charge and the tag must be displayed on the golf bag. As the renovation is on the horizon, we will keep you informed as best we can. A schedule is to be available for the when and what areas will be affected for activity plans. The decision was made to not reserve for private parties, until we can see how many areas will be affected. We may be limited as to what is available to use. Confirmations for scheduled times, for those that made reservations, were distributed and conflicts will need to be resolved by contacting the Event Coordinator's office. As the New Year's resolutions begin, why not try out the Fitness Center? On the 2nd Saturday of every month our fitness trainer, Cheryl Schindler, will be in the center to answer questions and give a brief review of the machines available to use. She is there from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. Not only does strength training help with balance, it can provide stability and improve posture. For a private consultation, Cheryl will help personalize an exercise program that meets an individual's needs, for a fee, which can be discussed. The Recreation Department is currently scheduling ahead for the New Year. We are bringing the Impersonators back in February, with a tribute to American originals: Ray Charles, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and Sandy from Grease. Come dressed up for the occasion and we will have a contest for the best dressed to the theme. A leather jacket is a good start! Coffee and desserts will be served. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, January 8. The Concert on the Green's entertainment is in the works and the New Year's Eve Party for 2020 is already booked with an outstanding band. Recreation is always thinking forward, we must remind ourselves to enjoy the moment. We anticipate an awesome 2020, thank you all for the memories of this past year. We'd like all of you to join us, in the Clubhouse, and get this New Year off to a terrific start! Recreation News By Chris Bessey, Recreation Director | OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2020 |23
