28 | OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2020 | Woodchucks The Woodchucks wish to thank everyone who helped to make the 2019 Holiday Toy Drive such a success. Our thanks to O'Connell Landscaping for their cheerful help with delivery to Camp Pendleton. Many thanks go to our outstanding Clubhouse and Maintenance staff for their help with set-ups. We are proud to be the catalyst that helps to bring such an amazing OHCC community response with your donated gift cards, toys, and checks! The Woodchuck sign-ups at Do Dues Day, Jan. 4, will continue to show how important our little shop is to Ocean Hills Country Club. We had one newbie tell us that our woodworking shop is the reason they bought their home in our community. For our new neighbors, we will review the functions of the Woodchuck Club. We work with our HOA in providing a well-equipped woodshop available to all Ocean Hills Country Club residents. To use the shop, you must watch our online safety film, and attend a shop safety orientation. Upon completion, you will receive the badge that opens the door for you to work with fellow members on some very fine equipment. We have various projects that include toy building for the annual Christmas Camp Pendleton drive, community projects benefiting our neighbors, and our many "honey do" projects. The shop is located just off Ocean Hills Drive going toward the back gate, turn left into the driveway toward the RV lot, then left before the RV gate. We invite you to join us, and be safe as you make your own saw dust. Sawdust is woodworker glitter! Village Vets The annual Village Vets holiday party, was held on Dec. 15 in Abravanel Hall. There was a fantastic dinner catered by Bobby's Hideaway and great music by The Musicstation. A number of invited military guests from Camp Pendleton attended to make it a fun evening. Thank you Patty Coffey, Barbara Hazlett and Bob Wong for all you did to make it a success. We are looking forward to another great year for our general meetings. Starting in February, and on every fourth Thursday through October we plan is to have interesting speakers for our veterans and their families. I would like to express my thanks to Tom Brennan, Barbara Hazlett, Jack Shabel, Joe Ashby, Jack Martin, Gene Gliozzo, Kaye Preston, Ken Krueger and Jim Gularte for making 2019 a great year for the Ocean Hills Village Veteran's Club. We also welcome Bob Smith and Greg Coffey to our board for 2020. If you need a new American flag or assistance getting one installed, please call Tom Brennan at (760) 842-1470. He will be happy to help. TAG members are here to offer computer, tablet, and smart-phone assistance to all OHCC residents.
