| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2020 | 31 We wish everyone a very Happy New Year! The Travel Club Board is looking forward to another year of informative programs at meetings and exciting trips. Do Dues Day is on Sat., Jan. 4, from 10 am to 2 pm. The club dues remain the same at $10 per person. We hope that you will join us for our first meeting of 2020 on Mon., Jan. 13, in Abravanel Hall. Our guest speakers will be Bob and Jean Johnson who will be sharing highlights of their trip to Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands. Please join us for our "club social" at 6:30 pm and at the meeting at 7 pm. We are also very pleased to announce another trip to see Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach, a favorite Club trip. We purchased 24 tickets for the outdoor evening show on Tues., Aug. 4. These tickets are now assigned to members who have already submitted their checks. We believe that we can obtain additional tickets/seats. Please leave a check in the Travel Club envelope at the Clubhouse as soon as you can if you wish to go on this trip. We only purchase tickets when we have checks. The price is $135 for members, which includes a ticket for the show, a snack, the bus and all gratuities. Additional details about this trip can be found on the flyers at the Clubhouse. To sign up for a trip as they are announced, please leave a check made out to the OH Travel Club in the Travel Club Envelope at the front desk of the Clubhouse at any time. If you are not a Travel Club member, please add a guest fee of $5 to the price listed. To check on your status, please ask for the Travel Club Folder at the front desk of the Clubhouse to see the Trip Confirmation Sheets, which are also available at our Travel Club meetings. We do not cash checks until after the "No Refund" date. We hope to see you at our meetings and on one or more of our trips in 2020! Travel Club It's the new year - a time for new beginnings. Did you know that pool is not very hard to learn? That is IF you start out by learning the right fundamentals. So, whether you are new to the game or would just like to improve, start out right in the new year. We'll give you one basic lesson per week for four weeks followed by a full basic seminar by a pool professional. You will gain a solid foundation to build on. Practice doing it wrong and go nowhere, or practice doing it right and advance steadily. "Choose wisely, Grasshopper." After those beginning lessons, you will receive nine further lessons on how to play the various games as well as seven advanced lessons on technique. There will also be a practice tournament and then nine real tournaments. Do them all, or as many as you want. We really do have the finest pool hall for 50 miles in any direction. Great tables, with the finest available cloth, balls, and members! Want your own beginner's cue? We have a selection of two-piece cues on our walls - take any one you like for $20. Want a new cue case? Take a new single case for $10. Want to keep your new cue in a locker in the Billiard Room? Rent one for 50 cents per month. What does all this cost? In the "outside world," around $90 per month. Here at OHCC, $7. Per year! Leave a check at the front desk or see one of us to pay or just to ask questions.
