Art Lovers
Happy New Year! The Art Lovers Club had a busy and eventful
year in 2019 and we are looking forward to some exciting programs
for 2020. We took some memorable trips to the Lux Art Institute
in Encinitas, Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, Oceanside Museum of
Art, and Fallbrook Art Center's Galaxy of Glass. We enjoyed learning
about special artistic creations by an alcohol ink artist, a street
photographer, OHCC's own sculptress, and a mosaic artist. They
were all inspiring. We were all very saddened by the passing of our
President, Roxie Carr in May. Susan Pick, Vice President, ably stepped
up to the plate and kept things moving smoothly.
We are planning some exciting trips this year and, of course,
wonderful presenters as well as our traditional Members' Treasures
meeting which this year will be held in February rather than January.
Get out those old family items and share their stories with the group.
This is always a fun and interesting event.
We have trips in the planning stages to Balboa Park's Museum of
Art, a quilting show at Oceanside Museum of Art and possible visits
to the Lux and Cannon Galleries. A watercolor demonstration by
Jayne Spencer and a talk by our very knowledgeable, Ernie Pick on
the world famous glass artist, Dale Chihuily are also on the calendar.
We will be distributing our six month line-up on Do Dues Day.
January is the time to renew your membership or join the Art
Lovers Club on Do Dues Day, Sat., Jan. 4, from 10 am until 4 pm in
Abravanel Hall. If you are unable to attend Do Dues Day you can
leave your check for $10 payable to OH Art Lovers Club at the front
desk of the Clubhouse. For more information please contact Paula
