| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2020 | 37 Racquet Club As our flourishing year comes to an end, we look forward to thriving in 2020. Our new Racquet Club Board is Herb Livsey, President; Ann Rike and Cliff Singh, Vice Presidents; Karen Burke, Secretary; Sid Saltzman, Treasurer; and directors David Johnson, Rob Schoonover, and Dannica Wood. Belonging to the Racquet Club means belonging to an active organization that makes a positive impact on the community and our property values. The Racquet Club: 1. Monitors the condition of our courts to make sure they are kept in good repair for all to enjoy; 2. Creates and oversees the open play and drop-in scheduling (including regulations) to ensure access for players of all skill levels. 3. Offers free beginner's lessons for all residents wanting to learn how to play one of our sports. 4. Advocates for upgrades to our recreational amenities as well as expanded facilities as the needs of our community evolve. Become a new member or renew your membership at Do Dues Day or place your $12 check and completed membership form in the RC envelope at the front desk. Membership forms were emailed in mid-December and are available on the website. Our guest policy has been revised. Spouses/partners are not required to join the Racquet Club to attend our parties. We hope many non-players do so, but now they may attend social events as guests of current members. Our Winter Party takes place Sat., Feb. 1 in Abravanel Hall. Flyers emailed in late December provided the details, or look online at: ohcc/racquetclub.wixsite.com/racquet. Ticket sales will be held Mon., Jan. 6, from 8 to 10 am in the Art Room. We suggest you come earlier to get in line for a table. The free Introduction to Pickleball lessons for new players will be held Saturday mornings Jan. 18 - March 7 on Tennis Court 1 from 9:15 to 11 am. Racquet Club membership is not required. Mike Hoggatt is the instructor. The winter class is only for residents new to the game. The summer session which begins in late May/early June targets players seeking extended formal beginners' lesson. Our first meeting of the year is Wed., Jan. 8 in Abravanel Hall. Social begins at 4 pm; meeting at 4:30 pm. "Drop-ins" for tennis at Court 3 happen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8 am. They are looking for new players to join them in their regular games. We'll be presenting the new Racquet Club logo design and hopefully, the chance to order t-shirts. Please come!
