The Sun Lakes Tennis Club has a rolling membership enrollment and all residents are welcome to join and enjoy the many benefits offered by the club and playing tennis. Tennis can be a great workout and lots of fun. Playing tennis supports good health in many ways, including: • increasing aerobic capacities • lowering resting heart rate and blood pressure • improving metabolic function • increasing bone density • lowering body fat • improving muscle tone, strength and flexibility • increasing reaction times. As well as being a great physical workout, tennis is also: • a non-impact sport • a great way to meet people and spend time with friends • helpful to reduce stress • appropriate to learn at any age and can be a source of enjoyment for a lifetime The Tennis Club's 2020 calendar is packed with opportunities for everyone. Whether you are new to the game or have been playing for years, the Tennis Club supports the active lifestyle enjoyed by the residents of Sun Lakes Country Club. Free clinics are offered just prior to the monthly mixers on the first Saturday of each month. Phil Hazelton and other club members provide support to learn and build skills. David Nethercott is organizing the mixers from February through June, and Debbie and Nick Caputo are organizing the mixers from July through December. Come enjoy the next free clinic and mixer for some socializing and tennis on Sat., Feb. 1 at 8:30 am on the South Clubhouse courts. Other ways to enjoy tennis are offered throughout the Tennis Club's 2020 season. World Cup Tennis and Friday Night Lights are among the activities that ensure a wide range of opportunities to play social tennis. The traditional club championships for mixed, men's and women's doubles support the interests of those who enjoy a more competitive flavor of the sport. The Tennis Club's first quarterly meeting will be on Feb. 8 at 5 pm in the South Clubhouse. Participants are able to contribute to decisions and enjoy a potluck dinner following the meeting. Everyone is invited to join the Tennis Club. Place your name and contact information along with a $10 membership fee in the box at the South Clubhouse. Let's get out there and play tennis!
