Be sure to stop by and have a look. Art League We've presented a lot about the history of the automotive industry in this space over the last few months. Now here's some speculation about key, long-term trends that are already underway. A major transformation in the industry is expected over the next decade, since technology is significantly advancing. Through the year 2030 we are likely to see an increasing amount of electric vehicles on the road. There will likely to be more autonomous vehicles and ride- sharing. According to recent reports, five main trends will transform the auto industry. We'll cover a few of them over the next few months. One primary trend is that vehicles will increasingly become electric. Concerns about climate change, especially with younger generations, creates the need and desire for cleaner vehicles. As technology advances and electric vehicles are able to increase their mileage between charges, they are likely to see increased sales. Vehicles are expected to move toward autonomous capabilities, from driver assisted functions to fully autonomous vehicles. As autonomous vehicles become available, they will probably be limited to high-end expensive vehicles at first. Another likely scenario is for trucks and buses to also become autonomous in the early stages. Older, qualified truck drivers are retiring and it may be difficult for them to be replaced. The trucking industry is expected to need 900,000 new drivers over the next decade. The industry is having a tough time filling the 100,000 job openings in the current market. Therefore, autonomous trucks would be a viable way for the trucking industry to keep up with demand. Consumers may not have a strong need for autonomous vehicles right away. The need for businesses to run efficiently will drive the use of autonomous vehicles in the trucking industry earlier than wide adoption among consumers. Cruzin' Cronies is a Classic Car Club, and you don't need a classic car to join. Meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month. We display our cars at 8 am in the Main Clubhouse parking lot, have a short meeting in the Multipurpose Room, and then go to breakfast. There are no dues, no extra fees; just friendship, stories, and laughter. Call Sandra Glickman, (951) 267-1113.
