60 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2020 Holidays are over and now it's time for some Bocce Ball. We're getting some good turnouts on Tuesdays and Fridays., but our Wednesday sessions usually fall short. We might have to adjust that time. Bocce Ball is played at The Summit on two green courts overlooking the surrounding valley with beautiful views. Everyone is welcome and we are always looking for new players. New players are introduced quickly to the rules and best strategies. It is an easy game where everyone can play requiring no specific skill or previous experience. Playing is a lot of fun — win or lose — with a group of wonderful people. Hopefully we'll see you out there having some fun throwing the Bocce ball around. If you are interested in learning the game, please join us. Any questions, please call me, Hank Negrete at (909) 747-7087 or Greg Stilson at (951) 267-1551. ~ Hank Negrete, hanknegrete16@yahoo.com Bocce Ball Fishing Club In my last article I told you that I was going to give you some tips on how to catch fish. First of all, make sure that there are fish where you are fishing. Location is the name of the game. My fishing friend, Dennis, and I went to Lake Skinner to catch some trout. We were told they were going to be stocking on the day that we went. To our surprise they did not stock the fish and everyone went home with empty stringers. I like to see the truck pull up to the ramp and pour in a bunch of fish. If I see this I know there are fish to be caught. Second, if you are fishing for trout you need to fish with light line. Two pound test or four pound test line will usually be the ticket for success. I have caught a great deal of trout using Berkley Power Bait. Get the rainbow color with the garlic scent. For some reason the trout really go for the garlic flavor bait. Any color will do as long as you have the garlic added to it. Stock trout bite all day long. I have caught them in the middle of the day. If you have not caught fish in an hours time move to another spot. The longer you fish and the more spots you fish, the better chance you have of catching trout for dinner. Fisherman's Retreat in Beaumont and Yucaipa Regional Park are two really good places to catch trout. You can call ahead and find out when they are going to be stocking the fish. Yucaipa stocks every Thursday, however, they do not allow you to fish on Thursday. The best time to go to Yucaipa is Friday morning. Fisherman's Retreat stocks every two weeks and you can fish right when they are planting the fish. Another way of having fish for dinner is to go with guys or gals who are really good at catching fish. They are always willing to share the fish that they caught. You almost always are going to have a person fishing with you that has a hot rod. If you go and four guys are fishing together, you can almost bet that someone is going to catch fish. I have had a few new guys call me and ask about the fishing club here at Four Seasons. I am always very happy to answer all your questions and tell you when the next time we are going fishing. Everyone here at Four Seasons is more than welcome to come and fish with club members. Tight lines to all my fishing friends and remember fishing is a great way to make new friends and enjoy life to the fullest. ~ Richard Carrasco, ricarrasco52@gmail.com Here is hoping that everyone had fabulous holidays. Now that we have made our New Year's resolutions, it's time to work on our new goals, whatever they may be. Perhaps they include more exercise or getting out of the house for more socialization. If any of these sound familiar, then please consider joining our great group of people who play shuffleboard on Monday and Saturday mornings at 9 am. We play at the shuffleboard courts at The Lodge. Shuffleboard is an easy game to learn if you have never played it before. And with a little practice it won't take very long to become a competitive player. Each time we play, we choose up different teams so that you are always playing with different partners. That way, you get to socialize with friends and get to know other Four Seasons residents better. We are always looking for new people to come out and join us. Everyone is welcome.
