| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | February 2020 | 11 We have a change in our committee membership. We wish to thank Mark Nelson for his service to our community and hope to see him at the many events we have in Four Seasons. We welcome the return of Brenda Billson, who has been on our committee for many years. Her expertise and commitment to ensuring our common areas are beautifully landscaped are greatly appreciated. We can update you that the Board of Directors approved the landscaping plan for the pool area in December and weather permitting, work to begin this project in January 2020. You may have seen several "email blasts" of the project. Plants and other materials will be installed that are designed to work with a reclaimed water system. When you have some time, come by and see what is happening in the pool area! We hope we'll have mild weather through the winter, but can always count on days were the temperatures drop to below freezing. This leads to frost damage on some of the plants and bushes in our gardens. What should one do if you have a frost damaged plant? Christianson's Nursery and Greenhouse have 10 Tips and some of these are listed here: • Resist action: Winter-stunned plants need to be left alone for a while until weather warms. • Don't over do it: Don't overwater a winter-damaged plant, as the roots may be unable to absorb a high amount of liquid causing rot. • Don't fertilize… yet: Don't fertilize and try to jump start your freeze-damaged plant. You don't want it to leaf out too quickly since it will stress the already suffering plant. • Don't heavy prune: Even though your instincts may be telling you to prune all the dead growth away, wait until the plant has had a chance to adjust to its growth pattern. • Be patient: Wait until temperatures begin to get warmer (April, May and even June) and the soil warms up to see if there is new growth or budding leaves. Head to the website https://www.christiansonsnursery. com/2017/04/06/10-tips-to-saving-cold-damaged-plants/ for more information on frost damage plants. Lastly, if you are walking along Four Seasons Blvd., stop and enjoy the "cut outs" of benches to sit a rest a bit. These hidden gems contribute to the beauty of our Four Seasons community. The Landscape Committee meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1 pm at the Lodge. Residents are welcome to attend. Landscape Committee
