The Clubhouse renovation has begun and we continue to do our best to accommodate the requests that have been made for 2020. Each day brings a new challenge and consideration, so the staff have to think on our feet. We will try to keep the membership informed with the upcoming activities. The Galleria will have current information displayed, flyers and posters will be made available. The Front Desk is now in the Men's Club Room. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the movie showings until the renovation is complete because the Ladies Club Room will be an access point and during Phase II the room will receive a facelift. Some of the decisions are hard to make because we know how much residents enjoy the Clubhouse. Thank you for your understanding and we are all looking forward to reaching the finish line. Do Dues Day was a grand success! Thank you to the RV Club for hosting the wonderful BBQ, along with the great weather, it turned out to be an exciting day. We have never seen so many checks at one time. Who still uses checks? Well, OHCC do! Annual Golf bag tags are still available at the Front Desk, oops, in the Men's Club Room for now. The Rock and Roll Reunion will be a hoot of a night! On Sun., Feb. 9, doors open at 6:30 pm. There is going to be a costume contest with prizes, so look in those closets for some 50s attire. Dessert will be served, with special coffees. Over the years, the Impersonators have been so entertaining and they provide a fabulous escape to a Las Vegas night atmosphere. This Recreation Director loves these kinds of events and no one is more excited than our Event Coordinator. Maybe she will bring her poodle, in a skirt! She did pretty good bringing the 'jungle' to our New Year's Eve Party. Our thanks to Angie and Lisa for their ongoing determination, in keeping our ball rolling, through the holidays and now into 2020. Tri-City Medical Center is presenting their Lunch and Lecture on Thurs., Feb. 13 at 11:30 am. Tickets are available for the lunch. The physicians will focus on heart health, after all February is Heart Month. They hope to sponsor three to four more lectures in the year. Attendees always say the lectures are informative and the team is able to answer questions at the end. No Vacancy Transport is the new provider for the Association's transportation services. The shuttle goes out twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mall trips are planned once a month. Riders need to call the Clubhouse by 3 pm the day before to secure a reservation. All riders must be able to get on and off the shuttle requiring minimal assistance. There is no charge for the service and the schedule can be seen online. Community Services Committee (CSC) will be reviewing some proposals for programs in the Clubhouse. The meeting is open to the membership. It is usually held the second Friday of the month at 10 am, but with the new committees now forming, there is a possibility that the time may change. Please call the Clubhouse for the updated information or look in the OHCC Living for the committee meeting times. It appears that we have covered our bases for this month. February is Heart Health Month, so do your heart a favor by eating right, exercising, and building healthy relationships. This can all be done by visiting the Clubhouse. Happy Valentine's Day! Recreation News By Chris Bessey, Recreation Director | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2020 |23 We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have. Spread love to those around you, remember that not only today but each day you can make a difference in someone's life. You don't need an excuse or a special day to show someone you care.
